Clotrimazole is trichomonacidal, antiprotozoal, antifungal, antibacterial.
Disrupts cytoplasmic membrane of microorganisms with the formation of vacuoles inside the cell; inhibits the synthesis of nucleic acids and proteins.
Indications
– fungal skin lesions;
– mycosis of skin folds, feet;
– pityriasis;
– superficial candidiasis caused by dermatophytes, yeasts (including the genus Candida), molds and other fungi and pathogens sensitive to clotrimazole;
Active ingredient
Composition
Oil for external use of white to white with yellowish tinge with slight specific smell.
100 g clotrimazole 1 g
Auxiliary substances:
emulsion wax 4 g,
cetostearyl alcohol (60% cetyl alcohol, 40% stearyl alcohol) 2 g,
Monoglycerides 4 g,
polysorbate 80 2 g,
propylene glycol 2 g,
glycerol 5 g,
castor oil 7 g,
methylparahydroxybenzoate 0.15 g,
propyl parahydroxybenzoate 0.05 g,
purified water up to 100 g.
How to take, the dosage
Externally. Apply the ointment in a thin layer 2-3 times a day on previously cleaned (using soap with a neutral pH) and dry affected areas of the skin and rub gently.
The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease, localization of pathological changes and the effectiveness of therapy.
The treatment of dermatomycoses is carried out at least 4 weeks, dermatodeficiency – 1-3 weeks. At the end of the course of therapy (when clinical manifestations disappear) it is advisable to continue it for 14 more days, with fungal skin lesions of the feet for 2-3 weeks.
Interaction
Amphotericin B, nystatin, natamycin reduce the effectiveness of clotrimazole when used simultaneously. When using the ointment, negative interactions with other agents are unknown and should not be expected, since the resorption capacity of clotrimazole is very low.
Special Instructions
Application of the drug to the skin in the eye area is not recommended.
In patients with hepatic impairment, periodic monitoring of liver function should be performed.
In case of signs of hypersensitivity or irritation, treatment should be discontinued.
If there is no effect within 3 days, the diagnosis should be confirmed.
Contraindications
– hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or excipients;
– I trimester of pregnancy.
With cautiousness:lactation period.
Side effects
Skin reactions: Itching, burning, tingling in the application area of the ointment, erythema, blisters, swelling, skin irritation and peeling, paresthesias.
Allergic reactions:Itching, urticaria.
Overdose
The use of the ointment in high doses does not cause any life-threatening reactions or conditions.
Pregnancy use
It is contraindicated in pregnancy (first trimester). Can be used in the II and III trimesters of pregnancy.
With cautions:lactation period.
