Pharmacodynamics
Antiseptic, exhibits bactericidal action against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, has fungicidal and virucidal action (against lipophilic viruses). Acts on bacterial spores only at elevated temperature. Effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria (including Treponema spp., Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Chlamydia spp.), viruses and fungi.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically to intact skin it is practically not absorbed, when used topically it is not absorbed into the systemic blood flow and does not cause systemic action. It is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. After accidental ingestion of 300 mg of the drug, maximum blood concentration (Cmax) is reached after 30 min and is 0.206 µg/L.
Indications
- Prophylaxis of sexually transmitted infections (chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, trichomoniasis, gonorrhea, syphilis, genital herpes – use not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse);
- Infections of the skin (abrasions, cracks).
- Purulent wounds, infected burns, bacterial and fungal diseases of the skin and mucous membranes, including in dentistry (rinsing and irrigation – gingivitis, stomatitis, aphthae, periodontitis, alveolitis), surgery, urology, obstetrics and gynecology.

Active ingredient:
chlorhexidine bigluconate solution 20% – 2.5 ml (equivalent to 0.5 g of chlorhexidine bigluconate),
Excipients:
purified water – up to 1000 ml.
Interaction
It is used in a neutral environment; at pH 5-8 the difference in activity is insignificant; at pH over 8 there is precipitation.
Application of hard water reduces the bactericidal properties.
Pharmaceutically incompatible with soaps, bases and other anionic compounds (colloids, gummarabic and carboxymethylcellulose).Anion compounds (colloids, gum arabic, carboxymethylcellulose).
Compatible with drugs that contain cationic group (benzalkonium chloride, cetrimonium bromide).
Directions for use
Outwardly. Topically.
It is used as irrigation, gargling and application – 5-10 ml of the preparation is applied to the affected skin surface or mucous membranes with 2-3 minutes exposure time per day (on a tampon or by irrigation).
For prevention of sexually transmitted diseases the preparation is effective if used not later than 2 hours after sexual intercourse. Introduce the content of the vial into the urethra: for 2-3 ml for men, 1-2 ml for women and for 2-3 minutes into the vagina (5-10 ml). Treat the skin on the inner surfaces of the thighs, pubis, genitals.
After the procedure do not urinate for 2 hours. Complex treatment of urethritis and urethroprostatitis is performed by injecting 2-3 ml 1-2 times a day into the urethra.
Side effects
Allergic reactions (skin rash), dry skin, skin itching, dermatitis, sticky hands (for 3-5 minutes), photosensitization. When treating gingivitis – staining of tooth enamel, deposition of tartar, taste disorders.

Overdose
At present, no cases of overdose have been reported for external and topical use; in case of accidental ingestion it is practically not absorbed (gastric lavage should be done with milk, raw egg, gelatin).
If necessary, symptomatic therapy is carried out.
