Cavinton forte is a drug that improves cerebral circulation. It improves the metabolism of the brain, increasing the consumption of glucose and oxygen by the brain tissue.
Enhances resistance of neurons to hypoxia by increasing glucose transport to the brain through the BBB; switches the process of glucose breakdown to a more energy-saving aerobic route; selectively blocks Ca2+-dependent phosphodiesterase; increases AMP and cGMP levels in the brain.
Enhances ATP concentration and ATP/AMP ratio in brain tissues; increases brain noradrenaline and serotonin metabolism; stimulates the ascending branch of the noradrenergic system, has antioxidant effect.
Reduces platelet aggregation and increased blood viscosity; increases the deformation ability of red blood cells and blocks red blood cell utilization of adenosine; promotes oxygenation of red blood cells. It enhances the neuroprotective effect of adenosine.
It increases cerebral blood flow; it reduces resistance of cerebral blood vessels without significant changes in the indices of systemic circulation (BP, minute volume, HR, RPS). Not only it does not have the effect of “stealing” but also increases blood supply primarily in the ischemic areas of the brain with low perfusion.
