Carsil is a hepatoprotector.

Derived from the plant Silybum marianum.

It has hepatoprotective and antioxidant effect.

Therapeutic effect is due to the effect on the metabolism of hepatocytes.

Activates the synthesis of proteins and enzymes in hepatocytes, stabilizing effect on the membrane of hepatocytes, inhibits the penetration of toxins into the liver cells, inhibits dystrophic processes, potentiates regenerative processes in the liver.

How to take, the dosage

Adults Karsil is prescribed 1-2 tablets 3 times a day. If necessary, daily dose can be increased up to 12 tablets (420 mg).
For preventive purposes, the drug is prescribed in a daily dose of 2-3 tablets (70-105 mg).

The duration of treatment course is at least 90 days.

Children over 12 years of age are prescribed the drug in a daily dose of 5 mg/kg body weight divided into 2-3 doses.

The tablets are taken orally without chewing.

Special Instructions

Because of the probable estrogen-like effect of silymarin it should be used with caution in patients with hormonal disorders (endometriosis, uterine myoma, carcinoma of the breast, ovary, uterus and prostate). In these cases we need to consult a specialist.

The drug is not used to treat acute intoxication.

The drug contains wheat starch as an excipient.

Wheat starch may contain gluten, but only in trace amounts, and therefore is considered safe for patients with celiac disease. Patients with wheat allergy (but not celiac disease) should not take this medication.

The drug contains sucrose as an excipient. Patients with rare hereditary intolerance to fructose, galactose, glucose-galactose malabsorption or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency should not take the drug.

The composition of Carsil forte capsules 90 mg. №30 auxiliary substances of the drug includes lactose. Patients with rare hereditary galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not take the preparation. Patients with intolerance of some other sugars should consult a doctor.

Contraindications

With caution: patients with hormonal disorders (endometriosis, uterine myoma, breast, ovarian and uterine carcinoma, prostate carcinoma) – possible effects of estrogen-like silymarin.

Overdose

There are no reports of overdose.

In case of accidental ingestion of several times therapeutic dose, it is necessary to induce vomiting, flush the stomach, take activated charcoal and, if necessary, carry out symptomatic treatment.
