Cardionate has metabolic, cardioprotective, antianginal, antihypoxic, adaptogenic, improves cerebral circulation.

Indications

In complex therapy: coronary heart disease (angina pectoris, myocardial infarction), chronic heart failure, cardialgia against the background of dishormonal myocardial dystrophy.

In complex therapy: cerebrovascular accidents (ischemic stroke, cerebrovascular insufficiency).

In complex therapy: acute circulatory disorders in the retina, hemophthalmos and retinal hemorrhages of various etiologies, thrombosis of the central retinal vein and its branches, retinopathy of various etiologies (including diabetic and hypertensive) – only for parabulbar administration.

Reduced performance, physical overstrain (including among athletes).

Alcohol withdrawal syndrome (as part of complex specific therapy).

Special instructions

The drug should be used with caution in case of liver and/or kidney diseases, especially for a long time.

Many years of experience in the treatment of acute myocardial infarction and unstable angina in cardiology departments show that meldonium is not a first-line drug for acute coronary syndrome and its use is not urgently necessary.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and maintain other mechanisms

There is no data on the adverse effects of meldonium on the speed of psychomotor reactions.

Meldonium dihydrate (trimethylhydrazinium propionate dihydrate) in terms of dihydrate without adsorbed moisture – 500 mg;

Excipients:

Water for injections – 5 ml.

Pregnancy

During pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding), the use of the drug is contraindicated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug; increased intracranial pressure (in case of impaired venous outflow and intracranial tumors); pregnancy, lactation period, age up to 18 years.

With caution

Liver and/or kidney diseases.

Side Effects

From the cardiovascular system: rarely – tachycardia, changes in blood pressure.

From the side of the central nervous system: rarely – psychomotor agitation.

From the digestive system: rarely – dyspeptic symptoms.

Allergic reactions: rarely – skin itching, redness, rash, swelling.

Interaction

When used together, meldonium enhances the effect of antianginal drugs, some antihypertensive drugs, and cardiac glycosides.

When meldonium is used simultaneously with nitroglycerin, nifedipine, alpha-blockers, antihypertensive drugs and peripheral vasodilators, moderate tachycardia and arterial hypotension may develop (with these combinations, caution is required).

Overdose

There are no known cases of cardionate overdose.

The drug is low-toxic and does not cause side effects hazardous to the health of patients.

Solution for injection 100 mg/ml. 5 ml in neutral glass ampoules.

5 ampoules are packed in blister packs made of polyvinyl chloride film.

1 or 2 strip packaging along with instructions for use and a knife for opening ampoules (in the case of using ampoules with a break point or ring, the knife is not inserted) into a cardboard pack.

Functional features

After intravenous administration, the maximum concentration of the drug in the blood plasma is achieved immediately after its administration.

There are no data on the bioavailability of the drug after intramuscular administration.

Metabolized in the body to form two main metabolites, which are excreted by the kidneys.

The half-life is 3-6 hours.

Storage conditions

At a temperature not higher than 25°C.

Shelf life
