Camphor, 10% ointment 25 g

The drug is of plant origin. When applied topically it has antimicrobial, locally irritating, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects; when administered parenterally it has analeptic, cardiotonic, vasoconstrictor and expectorant effects. By stimulating sensitive nerve endings of the skin it reflexively improves trophicity of organs and tissues.

Injection into the body by injection stimulates respiratory and vasomotor centers of the medulla oblongata. It increases metabolic processes in myocardium increasing its sensitivity to sympathetic nerves.

It increases tone of venous vessels, increases blood flow to the heart, coronary blood flow, blood supply to the brain and lungs. Released from the body through the respiratory tract, it promotes the separation of sputum.

Pharmacokinetics

After the p/k administration, camphor penetrates well through the BBB and the placental barrier and is excreted with breast milk.

Extracted by the kidneys (70%) and through the lungs (20%) and with bile (10%).

Indications

Externally: myositis, neuralgia, prevention of bedsores.

Special Instructions

The drug has no effect on the ability to perform potentially hazardous activities requiring high concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (including driving vehicles operating moving mechanisms).

Contraindications

The integrity of the skin is compromised.
