Pharmacological effects

Calcarea carbonica ostrearum is oyster lime, a substance extracted from the underlying shell layer of Casostrea angulata after the white shiny layer called nacre is removed. The substance is a whitish powder with a characteristic odor (ocean smell), practically insoluble in water and in alcohol.

The main component of oyster lime is calcium carbonate, which makes up more than 90% of the total mass. In addition, oyster lime contains:

– magnesium carbonate;
– calcium sulfate;
– silicon dioxide;
– manganese, iron and aluminum salts;
– organic substances such as conchiolin, which consists of numerous amino acids, mainly glycocol, lysine, arginine and tyrosine.

Indications

Key symptoms for prescribing the drug

– disorders of nutrition, growth and development of bones;
– polypous growths;
– tendency to eat inedible things (for example, chalk, sand);
– milk intolerance;
– consequences of rickets;
– excessive sweating of the scalp with a sour smell of sweat;
– lymphadenopathy.
