Biotredine is a regulator of tissue metabolism, increases mental performance, has a therapeutic effect in alcohol withdrawal state, reduces craving for alcohol.
L-threonine in the presence of pyridoxine (vitamin B6) splits into the amino acid glycine and acetaldehyde, which stimulate the inhibition and simultaneously redox reactions, respiration and synthesis of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) in cells:
- reduce psycho-emotional tension;
- improve short- and long-term memory;
- increase mental performance;
- raise and normalize the level of endogenous acetaldehyde and thus reduce the phenomenon of alcohol withdrawal syndrome and cravings for alcohol.
The action of Biotredin® is seen 10-20 minutes after taking under the tongue.
Indications
Prescribed to children, adolescents and adults with decreased mental performance and concentration.
The drug is prescribed to individuals who abuse alcohol, patients with chronic alcoholism when pathological craving for alcohol, combined with affective (irritability, low mood, inner discomfort), sensory (feeling of hunger) and ideational (thoughts about alcohol) disorders, with alcohol withdrawal syndrome, as well as to maintain remission.

L-threonine – 100 mg,
pyridoxine hydrochloride – 5 mg;
Associates:
polyvinylpyrrolidone low molecular weight (povidone) – 4 mg,
citric acid monohydrate – 6.83 mg,
magnesium stearate – 1.17 mg.
How to take, the dosage
The drug is prescribed in tablets under the tongue or as a powder after crushing the tablet; as a means of increasing attention, mental performance: children, adolescents and adults, 1 tablet 2-3 times a day for 3-10 days. If necessary the course is repeated 3-4 times a year or more.
Patients with chronic alcoholism and alcohol abusers are prescribed 1-3 tablets 2-3 times a day for 4-5 days. If necessary the courses are repeated 5-10 times a year.
In treatment of alcohol withdrawal syndrome it is prescribed 1-4 tablets 3-4 times a day (daily dose 3-16 tablets) in the first day, on the second day and further 1-2 tablets for 2-3 times a day (daily dose 3-6 tablets) for 21-28 days.
The duration of the course may be shortened to 10-14 days.
The greatest effect of Biotredin is achieved when it is combined with the drug Glycine (tablet 100 mg). Glycine is taken under the tongue 10-15 minutes before taking Biotredin.
In remission period to detect latent craving for alcohol, take 2-3 tablets of Biotredin on an empty stomach. The appearance within 10-20 minutes of light dizziness, sedation, facial redness, perspiration indicates the presence of “hidden craving”. In such cases, a 5-10-day course of Biotredin® 1 – 2 tablets 2-3 times a day along with Glycin 100 mg under the tongue 10-15 minutes before taking Biotredin® is recommended.
Interaction
Incompatible with antipsychotic drugs, antidepressants, anxiolytics, barbiturates. Weakens the effect of antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics), antidepressants, barbiturates and other drugs that depress the central nervous system.
Special Instructions
It is not recommended to use while intoxicated (because the therapeutic effect of the drug is reduced).
Contraindications
Alcohol intoxication, simultaneous use of drugs that depress the central nervous system (anxiolytics, antipsychotics (neuroleptics), antidepressants, etc.), hypersensitivity to vitamin B6.
Side effects
Dizziness, excessive sweating, allergic reactions if intolerant to vitamin B6.
Overdose
There have been no cases of overdose.
