Agonist of H1-receptors of the inner ear vessels and antagonist of H3-receptors of the vestibular nucleiCNS. By direct agonist effect on H1-receptors of inner ear vessels and also indirectly through the effect on H3-receptors it improves microcirculation and capillary permeability, normalizes endolymph pressure in labyrinth and cochlea, increases blood flow in basilar artery.
It has a pronounced central effect, being an inhibitor of H3-receptors of the vestibular nerve nuclei. It improves conduction in neurons of vestibular nuclei at brainstem level.
The clinical manifestation of the above properties is reduction of the frequency and intensity of dizziness, reduction of tinnitus, improvement of hearing if it is reduced.
Indications
treatment and prevention of vestibular vertigo of various origins;
syndromes including dizziness and headache, tinnitus, progressive hearing loss, nausea and vomiting;
Meniere’s disease or syndrome.

Special instructions

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
Betahistine does not have a sedative effect and does not affect the ability to drive a car or engage in activities that require rapid psychomotor reactions.

Composition
1 tablet contains:
Active substance: betahistine dihydrochloride 24 mg;
Excipients: MCC; lactose (milk sugar); citric acid monohydrate; colloidal silicon dioxide (Aerosil); crospovidone; talc; magnesium stearate.
Contraindications
hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug;
lactose intolerance;
lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption;
age under 18 years;
pregnancy;
lactation period.
With caution:
peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum (history);
pheochromocytoma;
bronchial asthma.
Side Effects
Gastrointestinal disorders, allergic reactions of the skin (skin rash, itching, urticaria), Quincke’s edema.
Interaction
There are no known cases of interaction or incompatibility with other drugs.
Overdose
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, convulsions.
Treatment: gastric lavage, taking activated carbon, symptomatic therapy.
