Pharmacological properties

Aqua Maris® Plus is a sterile isotonic solution containing sea water and dexpanthenol. Dexpanthenol is a derivative of pantothenic acid. Pantothenic acid, a water-soluble vitamin of the B complex, is a component of coenzyme A.

Dexpanthenol stimulates mucosal regeneration, normalizes cellular metabolism and has a regenerating and mild anti-inflammatory effect.

Injected into the nasal cavity, Aqua Maris® Plus moistens the mucous membrane, stimulates regeneration and has a trophic effect on the nasal mucous membrane cells.

The drug helps to thin mucus and normalize its production in bocalytic cells of the nasal cavity mucosa.

Micronutrients contained in the drug improve the function of the permeable epithelium which improves the resistance of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and sinuses to introduction of pathogenic bacteria and viruses.

Composition

Active substances:

Adriatic Sea water – 25 g.

Auxiliary substances:

Dexpanthenol 75 L (at least 75% dexpanthenol)* – 1.33 g;

Purified water – 73.67 g.

*Dexpanthenol 75L is an aqueous solution containing at least 75% (R)-panthenol stabilized by approximately 1% D-pantolactone.

No preservatives.

Presence of ions:

Na+ – min. 1.90 mg/mL; Ca2+ – min. 0.06 mg/mL; Mg2+ – min. 0.25 mg/ml; Cl- – min. 4.10 mg/ml; SO4 2- – min. 0.45 mg/ml; HCO3 – min. 0.025 mg/mL.

How to take, the dosage

For therapeutic purposes: for children from 1 to 7 years: 4 times a day with two sprays into each nasal passage; for children from 7 to 16 years: 4-6 times a day with two sprays into each nasal passage; for children from 16 years and adults: 4-8 times a day with two to three sprays into each nasal passage.

The course of treatment in all cases is 2-4 weeks (at the discretion of the attending physician).

It is recommended to repeat the course in a month.

For preventive purposes: for children from 1 to 7 years old: one to three times a day, one to two sprays in each nasal passage; for children from 7 to 16 years old: two to four times a day, two sprays in each nasal passage; for children from 16 years and adults: three to six times a day, two to three sprays in each nasal passage.

Interaction

Since the drug has no systemic effects on the body, no interaction with other drugs has been noted.

Possible use with other drugs used to treat rhinitis.

Special Instructions

It is not recommended for use outdoors in cold weather and it is not recommended to go outdoors immediately after using the product in cold weather.

The ability to affect the speed of response when driving vehicles or operating other machinery

The drug does not affect the ability to operate vehicles and machinery.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose

There have been no recorded cases of overdose.

Pregnancy use

Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not contraindications to use.
