Pharmacodynamics

Aminalon is a nootropic agent, restores metabolic processes in the brain, promotes glucose utilization by the brain and removal of toxic products of metabolism.

It increases thinking performance, improves memory, has a positive effect on the restoration of movement and speech after impaired cerebral circulation.

It has mild hypotensive effect, reduces initial high blood pressure and symptoms due to hypertension (dizziness, insomnia), slightly reduces heart rate.

It has moderate antihypoxic and anticonvulsant effect. In patients with diabetes it reduces glucose content; when the blood glucose content is normal, it has the opposite effect (due to glycogenolysis).

Pharmacokinetics

Absorption is fast, fairly complete. TCmax is 60 minutes, then the concentration decreases rapidly, after 24 hours in plasma is undetectable.

Indications

– conditions after cerebral circulation disorders and craniocerebral injuries;

– psychorganic syndrome;

– atherosclerotic, hypertensive and alcoholic encephalopathy;

– cerebral palsy and the consequences of birth trauma in children as part of complex therapy;

– mental retardation in children;

– kinetosis (seasickness and air sickness).

How to take, the dosage

It is used orally before meals.

Adults and children over 7 years of age are prescribed orally 0.5-1.25 g 3 times a day.

The daily dose is 1.5-3 g. For children aged 6 years 2.0-3.0 g/day (8-12 tablets) in 3 doses.

The course of treatment should be at least 2-3 weeks (optimally 2-4 months). If necessary, the course can be repeated 1 or 2 times a year.

In the treatment of motion sickness 0.5 g (2 tablets) is prescribed to adults, 0.25 g (1 tablet) to children 3 times a day for 3-4 days prior to the trip.

Interaction

Enhances the effects of benzodiazepines, many hypnotics and antiepileptic drugs.

Special Instructions

In the first days of treatment, there may be fluctuations in blood pressure.

Contraindications

– hypersensitivity to gamma-aminobutyric acid and excipients in the drug;

– acute renal failure;

– pregnancy (1st trimester), lactation;

– children under 6 years of age.
