Amberic acid (AA) is an intracellular metabolite of the citrate cycle (Krebs cycle). In body cells it performs a universal energy-synthesizing function.

With the participation of coenzyme FAD (flavinadenindinucleotide) and under the influence of succinate dehydrogenase (mitochondrial enzyme of oxidoreductase class) is rapidly biotransformed into fumaric acid and further into other products of Krebs cycle metabolism (the end products of NK metabolism are carbon dioxide and water).

Stimulates glucose breakdown via aerobic pathway and synthesis of ATP, which plays an important role in energy metabolism in the body; by activation of electron transport in mitochondria it improves tissue respiration.

The substance has strong antioxidant properties directed mitochondrial action, which promotes rejuvenation of the body at the cellular level.
