Alpizarin has antiviral activity against DNA-containing viruses: herpes simplex virus (Herpes simplex) types I and II, Varicella zoster (shingles and varicella zoster virus), cytomegalovirus. In in vitro experiments the inhibitory effect of Alpizarin against HIV was shown.
The inhibitory effect of Alpizarin on virus reproduction is especially pronounced in early stages of the disease. The mechanism of action is realized extracellularly. The drug prevents entry of the virus into the cell by interfering with its reproduction.
Indications
Alpizarin is used in adults and children in complex therapy for acute and recurrent forms of herpes simplex of extragenital and genital localization, herpes zoster, chickenpox, viral diseases of the oral mucosa, influenza, cytomegalovirus infection, Kaposi’s eczema herpetiformis.
