Alfinal is an anti-tumor hormonal drug. It inhibits 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into more active 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone, reduces its concentration in blood and prostate tissue within 24 hours after oral administration.

Indications

Benign prostatic hyperplasia (reduction in the size of the prostate gland, increase in the maximum flow rate of urine, reduction in the risk of developing acute urinary retention requiring catheterization or surgery).

Pharmacological effect

Alfinal is an antitumor hormonal drug. Inhibits 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into the more active 5-alpha-dihydrotestosterone, reduces its concentration in the blood and prostate tissue within 24 hours after oral administration.

Special instructions

In patients with a large volume of residual urine and/or a sharply reduced urine flow, careful monitoring of the possible development of obstructive uropathy is necessary.

Before starting therapy, it is necessary to exclude diseases that stimulate benign prostatic hyperplasia – prostate cancer, urethral stricture, bladder hypotension, disorders of its innervation and infectious prostatitis.

Women of childbearing age and pregnant women should avoid contact with the drug (especially touching crushed or broken tablets), because the drug has teratogenic properties (the ability to suppress the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone can cause disruption of the development of genital organs in a male fetus), penetrates into the seminal fluid.

Causes a decrease in PSA after 6 and 12 months of use by 41 and 48%, respectively. To exclude the development of prostate cancer during therapy with Alfinal®, patients must be examined.

If one dose of Alfinal® is missed, it is recommended to continue treatment according to the usual regimen. You should not take an extra dose of the drug.

microcrystalline cellulose,

pregelatinized starch,

copovidon (kollidon VA-64),

croscarmellose sodium (primellose),

colloidal silicon dioxide (Aerosil),

magnesium stearate.

Film shell composition:

Opadry II (series 85) (partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol, macrogol 3350, titanium dioxide (E171), talc).

Contraindications

hypersensitivity;
obstructive uropathy;
rare hereditary diseases such as lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption (due to the presence of lactose);
age up to 18 years.

With caution: liver failure.

Side Effects

Allergic reactions (rash, itching, urticaria, swelling of the lips and face), decreased potency and/or libido, impaired ejaculation, decreased ejaculate volume, enlarged and painful mammary glands, increased concentrations of LH and FSH in the blood, decreased concentrations of prostate-specific antigen (PSA).

Interaction

No clinically significant interactions were found between finasteride and propranolol, digoxin, glyburide, warfarin, theophylline and antipyrine.

Apparently, finasteride does not have a significant effect on the cytochrome P450 enzyme system and, accordingly, does not affect the pharmacokinetic parameters of drugs metabolized by microsomal liver enzymes.

With simultaneous use of finasteride with ACE inhibitors, alpha-blockers, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, nitrates, diuretics, histamine H2 receptor blockers, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, NSAIDs, quinolones and benzodiazepines, no clinically significant drug interactions were observed.

Overdose

Currently, no cases of drug overdose have been reported.
