Akriderm Genta, cream 30 g

Acriderm GENTA is a combination drug for external use with anti-inflammatory, antiallergic and antibacterial properties.

Betamethasone dipropionate – a glucocorticosteroid, has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-exudative, anti-edema and antipruritic effects. It inhibits leukocyte accumulation, release of lysosomal enzymes and proinflammatory mediators in the inflammation focus, inhibits phagocytosis, decreases vascular and tissue permeability and prevents inflammatory edema formation.

Gentamicin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. It has a bactericidal effect against pathogens of primary and secondary bacterial skin infections. Active against Gram-negative bacteria: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris, Klebsiella pneumoniae; Gram-positive bacteria: Streptococcus spp. (sensitive strains of beta- and alpha-hemolytic Streptococcus group A), Staphytococcus spp. (coagulase-positive, coagulase-negative and some strains producing penicillinase). It is inactive against anaerobes, fungi and viruses.

Indications

Treatment of steroid-sensitive dermatoses complicated by primary and/or secondary bacterial infection, eczema (atopic, pediatric, montiform), limited and diffuse allergodermatoses, including those complicated by gentamicin-sensitive infection, dermatitis (simple and allergic), atopic dermatitis, sun dermatitis, exfoliative and radiation dermatitis, diaper rash, psoriasis, itching.

Composition

1 gram of cream contains

0.64 mg betamethasone dipropionate (equivalent to 0.5 mg of betamethasone);

gentamicin sulfate, 1 mg.

How to take, the dosage

Acriderm Genta is applied in a thin layer to the inflamed surface twice a day, rubbing lightly. In milder cases, a single application is sufficient. Treatment duration is determined individually and depends on the nosological form and severity of the disease and is usually 1-2 (rarely 4 weeks). If a long course of therapy is necessary, it is recommended to use the drug less frequently, for example, every other day.

In the therapy of chronic diseases under constant medical supervision, the treatment should be continued for some time after all symptoms have disappeared in order to avoid a relapse of the disease. Administration of the drug in children under 12 years of age is under the supervision of a physician.

Special Instructions

The drug is not used in ophthalmology. Avoid getting the cream in the eyes, on damaged skin and open wounds. In order to increase the effectiveness of therapy it is possible to use occlusive dressings. Note that transdermal absorption of betamethasone and gentamicin is increased, which leads to an increased risk of systemic side effects.

If resistant bacterial or fungal microflora appear, the drug should be discontinued and appropriate therapy should be prescribed. cross-resistance may develop with aminoglycoside antibiotics.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Tuberculosis of the skin, viral skin infections, vaccinations, perioral dermatitis, pink acne (rosacea).

Side effects

Burning, dry skin, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, hypopigmentation, allergic contact dermatitis, skin atrophy, stretch marks, sweat.

Overdose

Acute overdose is unlikely; however, with excessive or prolonged use of the drug, chronic overdose is possible, accompanied by signs of hypercorticism: hyperglycemia, glucosuria, reversible depression of adrenal cortical function, manifestation of Cushing’s syndrome.

Treatment. Appropriate symptomatic treatment is indicated. In the case of chronic toxic effects, gradual withdrawal of the drug is recommended.

Pregnancy use

Possible if the expected effect of therapy on the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus. It is contraindicated in pregnancy in high doses and for a long time. Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.
