Phenylephrine and lerymazoline are vasoconstrictors that have an antiedematous effect on the nasal mucosa when applied topically. Reduction of mucosal edema leads to normalization of nasal breathing and reduction of pressure in the sinuses and middle ear. Viscous consistency of the solution increases the duration of action of the drug.
