The active ingredients of the drug Chlorhexidine Shampoo with antibacterial effect for animals have antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, antipruritic and deodorizing effect on the skin of the animal. Chlorhexidine bigluconate is an antiseptic and, depending on concentration, exhibits bacteriostatic or bactericidal (including fungicidal) action. It is active against bacteria: Staphylococcus epidermidis. Staphylococcus salivarius. Streptococcus viridans. Streptococcus haemolitycus. Streptococcus pneumoniae. Streptococcus mutans. Streptococcus agalactiae. Streptococcus serotypes and ribotypes. Enterococcus species, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae and Acinetobacter. Retains activity (somewhat reduced) in the presence of blood, pus and exudates. Cleanses and disinfects the skin without damaging it. Allantoin has a mild keratolytic and keratoplastic effect on the skin, helping to soften and repair it. When in contact with the skin it has a protective effect, which is especially important for animals with sensitive or allergic skin. D-panthenol (provitamin B5) restores skin structure when its integrity is damaged (due to cracking, dermatitis, burns, etc.), protects it from drying out and peeling. Active components of the product provide normalization of water and lipid balance of skin and deep moisturizing of animals’ hair coat. When applied to the skin and coat of an animal the product has a short-term contact action against microorganisms in places of their localization. When applied externally the drug is practically not absorbed through the skin and has no systemic action. According to the degree of effect on the body the drug is low-hazardous substances (Hazard Class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), when applied to the skin in the recommended doses, it has no local irritating and sensitizing effect.

Indications

The drug Chlorhexidine Shampoo with antibacterial effect for animals is used for dogs and cats:

– treatment of bacterial dermatitis (deep and superficial);

– treatment of fungal and parasitic dermatitis as part of complex therapy;

– prevention of bacterial dermatitis, which may be caused by allergies, trauma, burns, disorders of sebaceous glands, metabolic changes, lack or excess of vitamins and minerals, lack of proper skin and coat care etc.

– hygienic care of the skin and coat of animals (deep cleaning and moisturizing of the skin, nourishing and strengthening the coat, removing animal’s unpleasant odor);

-sanitation of wounds, abrasions and cracks on the skin.

The product is well tolerated by animals of different breeds and ages when used in the recommended doses. Suitable for use in dogs and cats from 3 weeks of age.

Composition

Antibacterial shampoo with chlorhexidine for animals contains as an active ingredient in 1 ml: chlorhexidine bigluconate 20% – 50 mg, and as excipients: sodium laureth sulfate, cocamide DEA, cocamidopropyl betaine, polyquaternium 7, acrylate copolymer, Trilon B, D-panthenol, methylchloroisothiazolinone and methylisothiazolinone, allantoin, perfume, purified water.

Directions for use

Before treatment carefully comb animal’s hair with a comb freeing affected areas of skin from crusts and dandruff. A sufficient amount of the product is applied to wool moistened with warm water and distributed evenly over the entire body surface, rubbing with hands until lather is formed, avoiding contact with mucous membranes and preventing licking of lather by the animal. After 3-5 minutes the shampoo should be thoroughly washed off with warm water, and the animal’s hair is dried and combed. If necessary, the procedure is repeated. The drug regimen depends on the presence, cause and severity of symptoms of dermatitis in the animal. For treatment of dermatitis of various etiologies as well as for sanitation of wounds, skin abrasions and cracks the drug is used in animals every 2-5 days for at least 3-4 weeks depending on severity of the disease. For the prevention of skin diseases of various etiologies and for hygienic care of the skin and hair cover enough 1-2 treatments per month. No peculiarities of the drug action during its first use and withdrawal have been found. Violation of the dosage regimen and scheme of drug administration shall be avoided as it may lead to decrease in its effectiveness. In case of skipping the next application of the drug, it should be carried out as soon as possible in the same dose and according to the same scheme.

Special Instructions

The drug is not intended for use in productive animals.

Personal precautions

When working with the drug one should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety provided for when working with drugs for veterinary use. Empty packaging from the drug must not be used for domestic purposes, it must be disposed of with household waste. People with hypersensitivity to the drug components should avoid direct contact with it. In case of accidental contact of the drug with skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, they should be rinsed with plenty of water. In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of components of the drug in the human body, you should immediately contact a medical facility (bring the instructions for use or label). Unused drug shall be disposed in accordance with the requirements of the law.

Contraindications

The drug is contraindicated in case of increased individual sensitivity of the animal to its components (including anamnesis). Do not use the drug in animals younger than 3 weeks of age.

Side effects

Side effects and complications when using the drug in accordance with these instructions, as a rule, are not observed. In case of increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the drug components or in case of allergic reactions the animal should be immediately washed under running water with a detergent and discontinue use of the drug.
