Zacofalc is a substitute for the deficiency of butyric acid and inulin.
A butyric acid is normally formed in the large intestine as a result of breakdown by normal intestinal microflora of undigested carbohydrates that come with food. The main function of butyric acid is to provide energy to the cells of the colon mucosa and keep them in a healthy functional state.
Inulin is a soluble dietary fibre which creates a nutrient environment for the intestinal microflora, thus stimulating the growth of beneficial bacteria (prebiotic action). Also as a result of metabolism of inulin by gut bacteria, endogenous butyric acid is formed.
The release of active substances in the colon. In order to fully realize its main biological functions, butyric acid must enter the colon when ingested without being prematurely absorbed in the upper GI tract.
This is made possible through the use of special technology based on a polymeric multimatrix structure that allows the tablets to pass unchanged through the stomach and small intestine and reach the colon. Throughout the colon, there is a gradual release of the active ingredients.
