Pharmacological properties
Pharmacodynamics
Injection water has no pharmacological activity. It is a solvent, used for the preparation of infusion and injection solutions, providing optimal conditions for the compatibility and effectiveness of substrates and water.
Pharmacokinetics
When administering continuously alternating water and electrolytes, homeostasis is maintained by the kidneys.
Indications
Dissolution and dilution of drugs for their parenteral (injection/infusion) administration immediately before application. It is used for the preparation of sterile infusion and injection solutions from powders, lyophilisates and concentrates.

Interaction
When mixing with other medicinal products a visual check for compatibility is necessary (pharmaceutical incompatibility may occur).
The interaction of the dissolved/diluted medication with other medications must be considered.
Special Instructions
Do not mix with water oil solutions for injections, external cauterization agents. Drugs whose concentration must be within certain limits are diluted with water for injection only within the specified limits. Injection water cannot be directly injected intravascularly due to low osmotic pressure (risk of hemolysis!). Particular control of the amount of injectable solutions prepared with water for injection is required in neonates and small children, in whom even when administering small amounts, water-electrolyte imbalances are possible.
Impact on ability to drive vehicles, mechanisms
The use of the drug does not affect the ability to perform potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and quick psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, operating moving machinery, work of dispatcher and operator).
Contraindications
Do not use to dissolve or dilute medications for which another solvent is indicated as mandatory.
Overdose
Hemolysis may develop after administration of large volumes of hypotonic solutions in which water for injection has been used as the solvent/diluent.
The signs and symptoms of overdose will also be related to the properties of the dissolved/diluted drug. If an accidental overdose occurs, treatment should be discontinued and the patient should be evaluated for relevant signs and symptoms associated with the administration of the dissolved/diluted medication.
Pregnancy use
The drug is not contraindicated in pregnancy and during breastfeeding.
