Anthelminthic agent of broad spectrum action; it is most effective for enterobiasis.
Causes irreversible disruption of glucose utilization in the helminth organism and inhibits ATP synthesis.
Indications
Enterobiasis, ascariasis, hookworm disease, strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis, trichinosis, taeniasis, echinococcosis, alveococcosis, capillariasis, gnathostomiasis, mixed helminthiasis.
Pharmacological effect
Broad-spectrum anthelmintic; most effective against enterobiasis.
Causes an irreversible disruption of glucose utilization in the helminth’s body and inhibits ATP synthesis.
Special instructions
With long-term use, it is necessary to monitor the peripheral blood picture, liver and kidney function.
Avoid drinking alcohol for 24 hours after taking mebendazole.
Do not use laxatives after taking mebendazole.
Periodic examination of smears of the anal area and feces after completion of treatment is mandatory (therapy is considered effective if there are no helminths or their eggs within the next 7 days).

Composition
One tablet of Vormin:
0.1 g mebendazole.
Auxiliary components:
Calcium hydrogen phosphate;
Magnesium stearate;
sodium lauryl sulfate;
Sunset orange food coloring;
Starch;
Gelatin;
Talc;
Sunset yellow food coloring;
Vanillin.
Contraindications
Severe liver dysfunction, pregnancy, lactation (breastfeeding), children under 2 years of age, hypersensitivity to mebendazole.
Side Effects
From the digestive system: rarely – nausea, abdominal pain; when used in high doses for a long time, vomiting, diarrhea, and a transient increase in the activity of liver transaminases in the blood serum are possible.
From the side of the central nervous system: rarely – dizziness; when used in high doses for a long time – headache.
From the hematopoietic system: when used in high doses for a long time, leukopenia, anemia, and eosinophilia are possible.
From the urinary system: when used in high doses for a long time – hematuria, cylindruria.
Other: when used in high doses for a long time – allergic reactions, hair loss.
Interaction
Mebendazole reduces the need for insulin in patients with diabetes mellitus.
Co-administration of mebendazole with lipophilic substances should be avoided.
With simultaneous use, cimetidine can increase, and carbamazepine and other metabolic inducers can decrease the concentration of mebendazole in the blood.
