Composition
1 g acyclovir 50 mg
How to take, the dosage
Oternally. The cream or ointment is applied to the affected areas of the skin 5 (every 4 hours) or 6 (every 3 hours) times a day respectively (as soon as possible after the onset of infection).
It is important to start treatment of recurrent infection during the prodromal phase or at the beginning of the manifestation of infection. The duration of treatment is at least 5 days, maximum 10 days.
Interaction
An increase in the effect is noted with the simultaneous administration of immunostimulants.
Special Instructions
The cream should not be applied to the mucous membranes of the mouth and eyes.
Acyclovir cream is effective in preventing relapses of herpes lips.
The effectiveness of treatment will be greater the earlier it begins (at the first signs of infection).
To realize the therapeutic effect of acyclovir it is important the condition of the immune system. Patients with weakened immune system (in case of HIV/AIDS or after bone marrow transplantation) should be treated with systemic injection of acyclovir ointment topically, as well as in case of severe and recurrent herpes infections.
A 1.25 cm strip of ointment should be applied over 25 sq.cm of affected skin. To prevent autoinoculation on other areas of the skin it is necessary to use gloves or rubber gloves.
Acyclovir does not prevent sexual transmission of herpes, so during the treatment it is necessary to refrain from sexual contact, even in the absence of clinical manifestations.
Acyclovir does not prevent sexual transmission.
Contraindications
In case of identified individual hypersensitivity to acyclovir, famcyclovir, valacyclovir, ganciclovir or excipients of the drug.
Vivorax cream for pregnant and lactating women is allowed to use only if the estimated benefit to the mother over the potential risk to the fetus/baby.

Side effects
Pain, burning, itching, skin rash, vulvitis, allergic reactions.
Post-marketing experience: swelling at the application site.
Overdose
Symptoms (if accidentally swallowed): headache, neurological disorders, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, impaired renal function, lethargy, seizures, coma.
Treatment: maintenance of vital functions, hemodialysis.
