Laxative. Softens stool masses; has a weak stimulating effect on intestinal motility. When taken orally it is not absorbed. The laxative effect comes in 6-8 hours.

Special Instructions

The drug should not be administered to pregnant women because of possible reflex stimulation of the uterus. If taken orally, petroleum jelly may pass through the anal sphincter and contaminate the underwear.

Do not use as a laxative in poisoning with fat-soluble substances (phosphorus, benzene, etc.) and in the treatment of worm infestation with male fern extract.

The use of the drug does not affect the performance of potentially hazardous activities requiring special attention and quick reactions (driving vehicles, working with moving mechanisms).
