Validol is coronadilatory (reflex).

Pharmacodynamics

It has a sedative effect, has a moderate reflex vasodilator effect caused by irritation of the sensitive nerve endings. It stimulates the production and release of enkephalins, endorphins and several other peptides, kinins (due to irritation of mucosal receptors), which actively participate in the regulation of vascular permeability and the formation of pain sensations. With sublingual administration the therapeutic effect occurs on average in 5 minutes, and up to 70% of the drug is released within 3 minutes.

Dextrose (glucose) is involved in various metabolic processes in the body and increases the redox processes in the body.

Pharmacokinetics

In sublingual administration it is absorbed from the oral mucosa. After absorption, it is biotransformed in the liver and excreted by the kidneys as glucuronides. Dextrose is completely absorbed by the body, it is not excreted by the kidneys (appearance in the urine is a pathological sign).

Indications

Functional cardialgia, neurosis, and as an antiemetic for sea and air sickness.

Composition

Effective ingredients:

levomenthol solution in methylisovalerate 60 mg;

dextrose (glucose)188 mg.

Supplements:

calcium stearate,

sucrose (sugar) – to obtain a tablet weighing 800 mg.

How to take, the dosage

Sublingually (adults).

The tablet should be kept in the mouth under the tongue until complete resorption. Take 1 tablet 2-3 times a day.

The daily number and duration of therapy is determined according to the effectiveness of the treatment. If the effect is not pronounced enough or if in some patients the effect is not observed within 5 minutes after taking the drug, the attending physician must be consulted for prescribing other therapy.

Interaction

When used concomitantly with neurotropic agents of the depressant type of action, it increases the depressant effect of the latter on the CNS.

Simultaneous use with nitrates reduces headache that occurs with their use.

Special Instructions

1 tablet contains 188 mg of dextrose monohydrate (glucose monohydrate), 450 mg of sugar (sucrose), which corresponds to 0.054 CFU, which should be considered by patients with diabetes.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, sugar/isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, age under 18 years (there are no data on the effectiveness and safety of the drug in children).

Cautions

Patients with diabetes mellitus (the drug contains sugar) should be prescribed with caution.

Side effects

With long-term use, mild nausea, lacrimation, and dizziness may occur.
These phenomena usually go away on their own.

Overdose

Symptoms: headache, nausea, agitation, heart disturbance, BP drop, CNS depression.

Treatment: drug withdrawal; symptomatic therapy.
