Pharmic action:

The drug Valeriana Forte reduces the excitability of the central nervous system.

The action is due to the content of the essential oil, most of which is the ester of borneol alcohol and isovaleric acid.

The valepotriates and alkaloids -valerin and chotinin also have sedative properties.

The sedative effect is slow but fairly stable.

Valerian acid and valepotriates have a weak antispasmodic effect.

The drug causes almost no feeling of fatigue, does not affect mental and physical ability to work.

Indications

In the complex treatment – functional disorders of the CSS, Gastrointestinal cramps.

Active ingredient

Composition

1 tablet:

– valerian extract thick, in terms of dry substance 40 mg

excipients:

Lactose, monohydrate (granulac70);

sodium croscarmellose;

p> magnesium carbonate light;

castor oil;

calcium stearate;

talc;

“Opaglos II Yellow “97W22039 coating mixture (sodium carmelose (sodium carboxymethylcellulose); dextrin; glucose, monohydrate; titanium dioxide (E 171); lecithin; quinoline yellow (E 104); sunset yellowFCF (E 110)).

How to take, the dosage

In adults and children over 12 years old take 1-2 tablets 3 times a day.

The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor individually.

The tablets should be used without chewing and drinking fluids.

Interaction

Valerian enhances the effects of alcohol, sleeping pills, sedatives, anxiolytics and antispasmodics.

Special Instructions

At the time of use of Valeriana Forte it is necessary to refrain from drinking alcoholic beverages.

The drug contains lactose, therefore it should not be used in patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.

The drug contains glucose, which should be considered in patients with diabetes.

Patients who have had severe liver dysfunction or have had severe liver disease in the past should be careful when taking the drug.

There may be a specific sensitivity to the odor of valerian.

Special Cautions.

Pregnancy or breastfeeding. Because of the lack of safety data concerning its use during pregnancy or breast feeding, it is not recommended for use.

The ability to affect reaction time when driving or operating other mechanisms.

When using Valeriana Forte, patients should refrain from driving vehicles and operating potentially dangerous machinery.

Children. Given the limited clinical experience, the use of Valerian is not recommended for children under 12 years of age.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to valerian and/or other ingredients of the drug; depression or other conditions accompanied by depression of the central nervous system.

Side effects

The drug Valeriana Forte is usually well tolerated, but sometime drowsiness, drowsiness, decreased ability to work, dizziness, headache, nausea may occur, which disappear if the dose is reduced or (if severe) if the drug is cancelled.

In case of individual hypersensitivity to the drug, local allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling and hyperemia of the skin) may develop.

Overdose

Symptoms: headache, dizziness, drowsiness, lethargy, general weakness, abdominal pain, nausea, trembling hands, dilated pupils, decreased hearing and vision acuity, feeling of tightness in the chest may occur.

Treatment: stop using the drug, flush the stomach, take activated charcoal.

If necessary, carry out symptomatic therapy.

Pregnancy use

The use of Valeriana Forte is not recommended because of the lack of safety data on its use during pregnancy or breast-feeding.
