Uniflox is an antimicrobial agent of the group of fluoroquinolones of broad spectrum.
The bactericidal effect of Ofloxacin is associated with blockade of DNA-gyrase enzyme in bacterial cells.
Indications
Ophthalmology.
Used to treat bacterial infections of the anterior eye caused by ofloxacin-sensitive pathogens:
infectious conjunctivitis,
keratitis,
keratoconjunctivitis,
blepharitis,
blepharoconjunctivitis,
dacryocystitis,
barley,
chalazions and corneal ulcers.
To prevent eye infections, Uniflox is indicated in preparation for operations, after internal and intraocular operations, after removing foreign particles and for eye injuries.
The drug is used in the complex treatment of endoflamitis.
Otology.
For treatment:
otitis externa (external otitis),
otitis media acuta (acute otitis media of the middle ear),
otitis media chronica suppurativa (chronic purulent otitis of the middle ear) (with perforation of the eardrum),
prophylactically during ear surgery in adults.
In children, the drug is used for the treatment of otitis externa (external otitis), otitis media acuta (acute otitis of the middle ear) with tympanotomy.
Pharmacological effect
Uniflox is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antimicrobial agent.
The bactericidal effect of ofloxacin is associated with the blockade of the DNA gyrase enzyme in bacterial cells.
Special instructions
Before the first administration of the drug, it is recommended to conduct a microbiological study of smears taken from the conjunctival sac or external auditory canal to determine the sensitivity of bacterial strains to the drug.
The patient is contraindicated to wear contact lenses while using the drug.
During the period of treatment with the drug, if possible, you should also not wear hard contact lenses or, at least, take them out before administering the drug and use them again only 20 minutes after administration of the drug.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery
Effect on the ability to navigate in traffic and skills in working with mechanisms. Reduced attention while driving or operating machinery is unlikely. Immediately after using the drug, blurred vision may occur, which may make it difficult to carry out the above actions. Therefore, driving, operating machinery and working at heights is not recommended for at least 15 minutes after using the drug.

Pregnancy
Uniflox is contraindicated in children.
Ofloxacin has not been shown to be safe for use in pregnant women, but there are no controlled or objectively evaluated studies.
It is not known whether ofloxacin passes into human milk when applied topically. Therefore, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, Uniflox can be used only if the expected therapeutic effect for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or to other fluoroquinolones.
Chronic conjunctivitis of non-infectious origin.
Infectious inflammation of the anterior and posterior areas of the eyes or auxiliary organs of the eyes, as well as meatus acusticus externus (external auditory canal) or auris interna (inner ear), caused by strains of bacteria resistant to ofloxacin.
Pregnancy and lactation
Age up to 3 years.
Side Effects
Ophthalmology.
Slight burning and redness of the conjunctiva.
Otology.
Itching of the ear and bitter taste in the mouth.
Very rarely, eczema, paresthesia, dizziness, tinnitus, ear pain and dry mouth may occur.
Interaction
Interaction of the drug Uniflox with other drugs for the eyes or ears, when used simultaneously, was not observed.
When using the drug, one should take into account the fact that magnesium, aluminum, iron and zinc reduce the absorption of ofloxacin.
It is not recommended to use Uniflox eye and ear drops simultaneously with other medications for the eyes and ears.
Overdose
If the doses and frequency were observed, no overdose was observed.
In case of accidental ingestion of the drug, treat according to the symptoms.
