Pharmacological action
Pharmacodynamic
Troxevasin® is a flavonoid (rutin derivative). It has P-vitamin activity, has venotonic, venoprotective, anti-edema, anti-inflammatory, anticoagulative and antioxidant effect. Reduces capillary permeability and fragility, increases their tone.
Increases density of the vascular wall, decreases exudation of the liquid part of plasma and diapedesis of blood cells.
Decreases inflammation in the vascular wall by limiting platelet adhesion to its surface.
Pharmacokinetics
Applying the gel on the affected area the active substance quickly penetrates through the epidermis, in 30 minutes it is found in the dermis and in 2-5 hours in the subcutaneous fatty tissue.
Indications
– Varicose leg veins;
– Chronic venous insufficiency with manifestations such as: Swelling, pain, feeling of heaviness in the legs;
– Superficial thrombophlebitis, periphlebitis, phlebothrombosis;
– Postthrombotic syndrome;
– Postthrombotic edema, hematomas;
– Prevention of complications after operations on the veins.

How to take, the dosage
Externally!
Unless otherwise advised by the doctor, a 1-3 cm strip of gel (depending on the surface area affected) is applied in a thin layer to the affected area twice a day in the morning and evening, gently rubbing in until completely absorbed. If necessary, the gel can be applied under an occlusive dressing.
It is recommended to be combined with the intake of Troxevasin ® capsules for a stronger effect.
If after 6-7 days of treatment no improvement or if symptoms worsen or new symptoms develop, a doctor should be consulted.

Special Instructions
The gel is to be applied only to an intact surface.
Avoid contact with open wounds, eyes and mucous membranes!
In conditions with increased vascular permeability (including scarlet fever, flu, measles, allergic reactions) the gel is used in combination with ascorbic acid to increase its effect.
The maximum time and recommended doses should not be exceeded if the drug is used alone.
Physician should be seen if there is no reduction or if symptoms worsen.
Effects on the ability to drive vehicles, machinery
Troxevasin® gel has no effect on the ability to drive a vehicle and operate moving machinery.

– Children under 18 years of age (experience in clinical use is insufficient).

Pregnancy
In the first trimester of pregnancy the use of the drug is contraindicated due to the lack of experience in clinical use. In II and III trimesters of pregnancy the drug may be used if the expected benefits to the mother exceed the potential risk to the fetus. It is necessary to consult the physician before using in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
Breast-feeding There is no data on penetration of troxerutin into breast milk. The drug should not be used during breast-feeding.
