Pharmacodynamics

Troxerutin has venotonic, angioprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant effect. It has P-vitamin activity, regulates redox processes, blocks hyaluronidase, stabilizes hyaluronic acid in cell membranes, thus reducing their permeability and capillary fragility and preventing damage to the basal membrane of endothelial cells.

It has a protective effect on connective tissue and collagen in particular, it improves the trophicity of tissues in varicose vein syndrome.

It increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of the plasma and the diapedesis of the blood cells. Reduces exudative inflammation in the vascular wall by limiting platelet adhesion to its surface. For patients with chronic venous insufficiency it is recommended to use both in the initial and in the later stages of the disease. As a result of treatment the feeling of heaviness in the legs disappears, swelling of the lower limbs decreases, and trophicity improves.

In addition to venotonic and angioprotective effects leading for troxerutin it has a number of other pharmacological properties – membranostabilizing, anti-hemorrhagic and radioprotective.

Pharmacokinetics

The cmax of hydroxyethylrutoside is reached in 2-8 hours. The elimination half-life is about 24 hours. It is metabolized in the liver with the formation of two metabolites. It is excreted mainly in the bile and slightly in the urine within a day.

Indications

– Chronic venous insufficiency with such manifestations as static heaviness in the legs, lower leg ulcers, trophic skin lesions;
– varicose veins, including during pregnancy (starting with the 4th month of pregnancy);
– thrombophlebitis, periphlebitis;
– post-thrombotic syndrome;
– hemorrhoids;
– as a preventive measure after vein surgery.

How to take, the dosage

Take orally with meals with plenty of water.

The initial dose is 1 capsule 3 times a day; maintenance therapy is 1-2 capsules a day.

The course of treatment is 2-4 weeks.

Special Instructions

For the expected therapeutic results to occur, the dosage and duration of treatment must be strictly followed.

The drug can be used as one of the components of complex treatment.

In particular in conditions characterized by increased vascular permeability and vascular structure disorder (scarlet fever, flu, measles, allergic reactions) it is used in combination with ascorbic acid to enhance its effects.

Long-term use is not recommended in patients with significant renal dysfunction.

Side effects

Digestive system disorders: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia.

Allergic reactions: skin manifestations (urticaria, itching).

CNS disorders: in some cases – headache and sleep disorders.

Side effects occur rarely.
