Pharmacological properties

Pharmacodynamics.

Rehydrating agent. Prevents or reduces dehydration of the body by reimbursing sodium and potassium salts, restores water-electrolyte balance in diarrhea. Dextrose promotes the absorption of electrolytes, which contributes to the correction of metabolic acidosis.

Pharmacokinetics.

The drug is retained in the vascular stream for a short time and very quickly passes into the interstitial sector and inside the cells. Already after 1 hour half of the excreted solution remains in the bloodstream. It is rapidly excreted by the kidneys, increasing diuresis. In case of renal insufficiency, excretion of the potassium included in the drug may be delayed.

Special Instructions

Contraindications

Consciousness. Intestinal obstruction. Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, renal dysfunction; cholera-related diarrhea; severe dehydration, hemodynamic shock, severe vomiting.

Side effects

Overdose

Hypernatremia may occur if a large volume or highly concentrated solution is administered

Trihydrosol® (if the solution is not properly prepared).

The symptoms of hypernatremia: weakness, neuromuscular agitation, drowsiness, confusion, coma, sometimes even respiratory arrest. In patients with decreased renal function, metabolic alkalosis may occur, which may manifest as depression of ventilation, neuromuscular agitation and tetanic convulsions.

If Tridrosol® is used in patients with impaired excretion of potassium salts from the body, hyperkalemia (increased potassium in the blood) may develop, which may manifest as sensory disorders and paralysis of the extremities, itching of the skin, confusion, fall of blood pressure, heart attacks, and even cardiac arrest, which may occur suddenly, among complete well-being.

The correction of water-electrolyte balance should be done on the basis of laboratory data.
