Tinidazole, 500 mg 4 pcs

Tinidazole is an antiprotozoal drug with antibacterial action.

The mechanism of action is due to inhibition of synthesis and damage to the DNA structure of pathogens.

It is active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Lamblia intestinalis.

It has a bactericidal effect against the following anaerobic bacteria: Bacteroides spp. (including Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides melaninogenicus), Clostridium spp., Eubacterium spp., Fusobacterium spp., Peptococcus spp., Peptostreptococcus spp., Veillonella spp.

How to take, the dosage

The dosage regimen is individual.

Adults – 1.5-2 g 1 time per day; children (except for prophylaxis of postoperative anaerobic infections) – 50-75 mg/kg 1 time per day.

The duration of treatment is determined by the clinical situation and can be 1-10 days.

Interaction

It enhances the effect of indirect anticoagulants (to reduce the risk of bleeding, the dose is reduced by 50%) and the effect of ethanol (disulfiram-like effect).

It is not recommended to take with ethionamide. Phenobarbital accelerates metabolism.

Compatible with sulfonamides and antibiotics (aminoglycosides, erythromycin, rifampicin, cephalosporins).

Special Instructions

In the treatment of trichomoniasis, both sexual partners should be treated simultaneously.

In case of adverse reactions on the CNS side, Tinidazole should be stopped.

At the time of treatment with Tinidazole, alcohol should be refrained from drinking because of the possible development of antabuse-like reactions.

The drug causes dark staining of the urine.

Control of laboratory parameters

If treatment lasts more than 6 days, peripheral blood counts should be monitored regularly.

Influence on driving and operating ability

Patients taking the drug should refrain from engaging in potentially hazardous activities requiring increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.

Contraindications

Side effects

Digestive system disorders: anorexia, dryness and bad taste in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea are possible.

CNS and peripheral nervous system disorders: headache, dizziness, ataxia, peripheral neuropathy; rarely – seizures.

Allergic reactions: urticaria, skin itching, skin rash, angioedema.

Other: rare – transient leukopenia, weakness.

Overdose

Tinidazole drug overdose has not been described at present.

The treatment: symptomatic therapy is carried out.

Tinidazole is excreted by dialysis.

There is no specific antidote.

Pregnancy use

Tinidazole is contraindicated for use in the first trimester of pregnancy.

The use of the drug in the second and third trimesters is possible only when the estimated benefit to the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.

If it is necessary to use Tinidazole during lactation, discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered.

Please note that tinidazole is detectable in breast milk for 72 hours after administration.
