Tetracycline with Nystatin is a combined antibacterial agent.
Tetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic of tetracycline group. It is active against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp. including penicillinase-producing; Streptococcus spp., Streptococcus pneumoniae; Haemophilus influenzae, Listeria spp, Bacillus anthracis) and Gram-negative microorganisms (Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Bordetella pertussis, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp.), and Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Treponema spp.
Resistant: Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus spp., Serratia spp., most strains of Bacteroides spp. and fungi, small viruses.
Nistatin is a polyene fungicide antibiotic that is highly active against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida spp.

Tetracycline and nystatin are used for pneumonia, bronchitis, pleural empyema, angina, cholecystitis, pyelonephritis, intestinal infections, endocarditis, endometritis, prostatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, brucellosis.
Active ingredient
Composition
Active ingredients:
100,000 IU (100 mg) of tetracycline hydrochloride,
100,000 IU of nystatin.
How to take, the dosage
The doses are based on tetracycline.
Adults are prescribed 250 mg 3-4 times daily; daily dose is up to 2 g. Do not prescribe the drug in a dose less than 800 mg per day, since development of resistant forms of microorganisms is possible.
In children over 8 years of age a daily dose of 20-25 mg/kg body weight is indicated.
Interaction
Tetracycline is incompatible with beta-lactam antibiotics – penicillins and cephalosporins. The drug increases the effects of indirect oral anticoagulants.
Tetracycline should not be used together with antacids containing aluminum, calcium, magnesium, with iron-containing drugs and dairy products (it forms insoluble complexes with metal ions).
Nistatin has cross-resistance with a number of polyene antibiotics, such as amphotericin B.
Special Instructions
The drug should not be prescribed to children under 8 years of age because tetracycline, when bound to calcium, is deposited in the bones and teeth, causing enamel hypoplasia, permanent staining of teeth and suppression of bone growth.
The compound contains Nystatin that prevents candida infections caused by antibiotics.
If it is necessary to prescribe the drug during lactation, the question of stopping breast-feeding should be considered.
Contraindications
Expression of liver function, leukopenia
Side effects
Appetite reduction, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, glossitis, esophagitis, gastritis, stomach and duodenal ulcer, dysphagia; photosensitization, allergic reactions (maculopapular rash, skin hyperemia, angioneurotic edema, anaphylactoid reactions, drug lupus erythematosus); hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, superinfections (including fungal); intestinal dysbacteriosis; hypovitaminosis B; increased liver transaminase activity, hypercreatininemia, azotemia, hyperbilirubinemia.
