Combination drug for topical application in gynecology. It has antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antiprotozoal, antifungal effects; it ensures the integrity of the vaginal mucosa and pH constancy.

Ternidazole is an antifungal agent of the group of imidazole derivatives, reduces the synthesis of ergosterol (a component of the cell membrane), changes the structure and properties of the cell membrane. It has trichomonacidal effect, it is also active against anaerobic bacteria, in particular gardnerella.

Neomycin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the aminoglycoside group. It is bactericidal against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli, Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella flexneri, Shigella boydii, Shigella sonnei, Proteus spp.) microorganisms; against Streptococcus spp.

Resistance of microorganisms develops slowly and to a small extent.

Nistatin is an antifungal antibiotic from the group of polyenes, highly effective against yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, it changes the permeability of cell membranes and slows their growth.

Prednisolone is a dehydrated analog of hydrocortisone with pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and anti-exudative action.

Composition

Active substances:

Ternidazole – 0.2 g,

Neomycin sulfate – 0.1 g or 65,000 IU,

Nistatin – 100,000 IU,

Prednisolone sodium metasulfobenzoate – 0.0047 g,

equivalent to prednisolone – 0.003 g.

Excipients:

Wheat starch – 0.264 g,

Lactose monohydrate – q.s. up to 1.2 g,

colloidal silicon dioxide – 0.006 g,

magnesium stearate – 0.01 g,

sodium carboxymethyl starch – 0.048 g.

How to take, the dosage

For vaginal use.

One tablet is inserted deep into the vagina in the “lying” position before going to bed.

The tablet should be held in water for 20-30 seconds before insertion into the vagina.

After insertion it is necessary to lie down for 10 – 15 minutes.

The average duration of therapeutic course of therapy is 10 days; in case of confirmed mycosis it can be increased up to 20 days; the average duration of preventive course is 6 days.

Special Instructions

It is necessary to treat the sexual partner at the same time because of the risk of reinfection.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug.

Side effects

A burning sensation, itching and irritation in the vagina (especially at the beginning of treatment).

In some cases allergic reactions are possible.

Overdose

Due to the low degree of absorption into the systemic bloodstream, overdose is unlikely.

Pregnancy use

The use of Terzhinan in pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding) is possible under indications.
