An anti-catabolic agent, it has a metabolic effect.
Stimulates repair and regeneration processes in diseases of dystrophic nature and diseases accompanied by acute metabolic disorder of eye tissues.
It normalizes the functions of cell membranes, activates energy and metabolic processes, maintains the electrolyte composition of the cytoplasm by accumulating K+ and Ca2+, improves conditions for the nerve impulse.
Indications
The drug is used as part of complex therapy.
Corneal dystrophy; cataract (senile, diabetic, traumatic, radiation); corneal trauma (as a simulator of reparative processes).
Primary open-angle glaucoma (in combination with β-adrenoblockers (to improve the outflow of intraocular fluid).

Interaction
In patients with glaucoma (open-angle) a significant enhancement of the hypotensive effect of β-adrenoblockers (butylaminohydroxypropoxyphenoxymethyl methyloxadiazole or hymolol maleate) when used together with taurine has been noted.
The effect is enhanced by increasing the ease of outflow coefficient and reducing aqueous moisture production.
