Tardiferon, 80 mg 30 pcs
€15.54 €12.95
Tardiferon retard replenishes iron deficiency in the body, which is necessary for the synthesis of hemoglobin.
Mucoproteose, a mucopolysaccharide derived from the intestinal mucosa, provides better tolerability of the drug and increases the bioavailability and gradual release of divalent iron (Fe 2+) from the drug.
Ascorbic acid improves iron absorption. After taking the drug, iron absorption occurs mainly in the distal part of the small intestine. Maximum concentration of iron ion in plasma is reached 7 hours after taking the drug and remains elevated during the day.
On average 10-20% of the administered dose is absorbed. Absorption is increased with decreased iron reserves in the body.
Indications
Treatment and prevention of iron deficiency conditions caused by:
– Pregnancy.
– Lactation.
– Disorder of iron absorption from the gastrointestinal tract.
– Prolonged bleeding.
– An incomplete and unbalanced diet.
Active ingredient
Composition
1 tablet contains:
Half iron sulfate II 256.3 mg (corresponding to 80 mg of iron).
Auxiliary substances:
Mucoproteose,
Ascorbic acid,
potato starch,
eudragit C,
dibutyl phthalate,
povidone,
magnesium stearate,
castor oil,
magnesium trisilicate.
Covering composition:
talk, eudragite E, titanium dioxide, starch, wax, paraffin, sucrose.
How to take, the dosage
The drug is taken orally after meals.
The duration of therapy is determined by the doctor individually.
Adults – 1-2 tablets a day.
Pregnant women (II and III trimester of pregnancy) and nursing women are recommended to take 1 tablet a day for preventive purposes.
Interaction
In concomitant administration of Tardiferon with antacids, tetracycline antibiotics and penicillamine, iron absorption is impaired.
The simultaneous administration of ascorbic acid improves iron absorption. Do not prescribe together with other iron preparations, including those for parenteral use, in order to avoid overdose.
Special Instructions
Before starting therapy with the preparation of iron, serum iron and serum ferritin levels should be tested (i.e., to document iron deficiency).
The therapy with the drug should be carried out until normalization of the blood picture (8-12 weeks). Dark staining of feces and false positive benzidine test may occur while taking the drug.
It should be taken into account that consumption of tea in large quantities reduces absorption of iron ions in the gastrointestinal tract. There have been no special studies on the use of the drug in children.
Contraindications
– Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
– Diseases accompanied by accumulation of iron in the body: aplastic anemia, hemolytic anemia, thalassemia, hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis.
– disorders of iron absorption: sideroachrestic anemia, lead anemia, pernicious anemia (vitamin B12 deficiency), childhood (under 6 years).
Overdose
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
Treatment: if overdose is suspected, serum iron and serum ferritin levels should be tested, gastric lavage should be performed, milk and raw egg should be administered to enhance binding of iron ions in the GI tract and their subsequent excretion.
If the normal values of serum ferritin are significantly exceeded, the prescription of an iron chelator (desferal) is necessary.
Pregnancy use
Pregnant (II and III trimester of pregnancy) and lactating women are recommended to take 1 tablet every other day for preventive purposes.
