Composition
1 tablet contains

How to take, the dosage
Adults are prescribed 25 mg (1 tablet) 3-4 times daily (75-100 mg/day).
Children aged 1-12 months are prescribed 1/4 tablet (6.25 mg) 2-3 times per day (grinded to powder with baby food); 2-6 years old – 1/3 tablet (8.3 mg) 2-3 times per day; 7-14 years old – 1/2 tablet (12.5 mg) 3 times per day.
Tablets should be taken after meals.
Interaction
Simultaneous use of Suprastin increases the effects of anesthetics, hypnotics, tranquilizers, analgesics, MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, atropine and sympatholytics.
Special Instructions
The drug should be used with caution in elderly patients, in liver dysfunction and/or heart disease. Particular caution should be exercised when prescribing the drug orally in closed-angle glaucoma, in patients with urinary retention and prostatic hypertrophy.
The drug may increase the symptoms of reflux esophagitis if taken at night.
With caution, Suprastin should be administered simultaneously with sedatives, tranquilizers, analgesics, MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, atropine and/or sympatholytics.
At the time of treatment, consumption of alcoholic beverages should be avoided.
Impact on driving and operating machinery
In the initial, individually determined period of use of Suprastin it is not allowed to drive vehicles and engage in other potentially dangerous activities requiring rapid psychomotor reactions. During further treatment, the degree of restriction is determined according to individual tolerance of the drug.
Contraindications
- High sensitivity to the components of the drug;
- acute onset of bronchial asthma;
- pregnant formulation
- Children under 3 years of age (for this dosage form);
- Lactase deficiency, lactose intolerance, glucose/galactose malabsorption (because of the followingк. The tablet contains 116 mg of lactose monohydrate);
- pregnancy;
- lactation period.
With caution: closed-angle glaucoma; urinary retention; prostatic hyperplasia; hepatic and/or renal dysfunction; cardiovascular disease; elderly patients.
Side effects
CNS disorders: drowsiness, drowsiness, weakness, slight tremor, dizziness are possible. In children there may be some stimulating effect on the CNS, manifested by anxiety, increased irritability, insomnia.
Overdose
Symptoms similar to those of atropine intoxication may appear.
Pregnancy use
Pregnancy
There have been no adequately controlled clinical trials of antihistamines in pregnant women. However, cases of retrolental fibroplasia have been described in newborns whose mothers took antihistamines in the last months of pregnancy. Accordingly, the use of Suprastin® during pregnancy is contraindicated.
Breast-feeding
The use of the drug Suprastin® is contraindicated during breast-feeding.
