Sulfacyl sodium, eye drops 20% 1.5 ml 2 pcs

Antimicrobial bacteriostatic agent, sulfonamide.

The mechanism of action is due to competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid, inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, disruption of tetrahydrofolic acid synthesis, required for purine and pyrimidine synthesis.

Pharmacokinetics

In local administration, penetrates tissues and fluids of the eye. It may penetrate into the systemic bloodstream through the inflamed conjunctiva, but due to the small amount of the drug, no systemic effect is determined.

1 ml of eye drops contains:

the active ingredient:

Sodium sulfacetamide monohydrate (sodium sulfacyl), in terms of 100% substance 200 mg,

excipients:

Sodium thiosulfate, 1 mg;

hydrochloric acid solution 1 M – to pH 8;

water for injection – up to 1 ml

How to take, the dosage

Push into the conjunctival sac in adults 1-2 drops of the solution 5-6 times a day.

For prevention of blennorrhea in newborns 1 drop of the solution is put into each eye three times at intervals of 10 minutes.

Interaction

Co-use with novocaine and dicaine reduces the bacteriostatic effect of sodium sulfacyl.

Incompatibility of sodium sulfacyl when used together with silver salts has been observed.

Special Instructions

Patients with hypersensitivity to furosemide, thiazide diuretics, sulfonylurea or carbohydrase inhibitors may exhibit hypersensitivity to sodium sulfacyl.

Patients with a history of allergy are indicated with caution.

Contraindications

Individual hypersensitivity to sulfonamide drugs.

Side effects

When using the drug local tissue irritation (burning, redness, swelling, tears, lacrimation), allergic reactions are possible.
