Pharmacological properties
Traditional herbal medicine. The drug has an expectorant, anti-inflammatory effect, helps to reduce the viscosity of sputum and accelerate its excretion.

Indications

As part of complex therapy for acute and chronic inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough with difficult to separate sputum (tracheitis, bronchitis, tracheobronchitis).

Pharmacological properties

Special instructions

If the patient’s condition does not improve or if there are attacks of suffocation, purulent sputum, or an increase in body temperature, you should immediately consult a doctor.
The drug Stoptussin PHYTO contains 62% sucrose, so it should be used with caution in patients with diabetes mellitus and people on a low-carbohydrate diet. 1 teaspoon of Stoptussin PHYTO contains up to 3.1 g of sucrose (which corresponds to 0.28 XE), 1 tablespoon contains up to 9.3 g of sucrose (which corresponds to 0.85 XE).
The drug Stoptussin PHYTO contains 3.4% (vol/vol) ethanol: 1 teaspoon of syrup (5 ml) contains up to 0.14 g of absolute ethyl alcohol; in 1 tablespoon of syrup (15 ml) – up to 0.42 g of absolute ethyl alcohol; The maximum daily dose of Stoptussin PHYTO for adults (60 ml) contains up to 1.68 g of absolute ethyl alcohol.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery

There is no information about the possible effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery. Due to the alcohol content, the drug may adversely affect the ability to carry out such activities. During the period of treatment with Stoptussin PHYTO, you should refrain from performing potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, working with moving mechanisms, working as a dispatcher, operator).

Active ingredients: common thyme herb extract liquid alcohol (Thymi extractum fluidum ethanolum) 4.1624 g, creeping thyme herb extract liquid alcohol (Serpylli extractum fluidum ethanolum) 4.1630 g, plantain lanceolate leaf extract liquid alcohol (Plantaginis extractum fluidum ethanolum) 4.1666 g; excipients: honey 22.5000 g, sodium benzoate 0.1250 g, sucrose 62.0000 g, glycerol 85% 0.0078 g, water up to 100.0000 ml.

Pregnancy

There is no sufficient information about the effect of the drug on pregnant women. It is not known whether the components of the drug Stoptussin PHYTO pass into breast milk.
Based on insufficient information, the use of the drug during pregnancy and breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; in patients with known intolerance to honey and bee products; hypersensitivity to plants of the Lamiaceae family; chronic heart failure (in the stage of decompensation); liver and kidney diseases; congenital fructose intolerance; glucose-galactose malabsorption; sucrase/isomaltase deficiency; pregnancy; breastfeeding period; children’s age up to 1 year.

With caution
Alcoholism, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, diseases of the brain, liver, diabetes, children under 4 years of age. Children from 1 to 4 years old can take the drug only on the recommendation of a doctor.

Side Effects

Adverse reactions are systematized in accordance with the World Health Organization (WHO) Classification: frequency unknown (cannot be determined based on available data).

Allergic reactions: frequency unknown – dyspnea, skin rash, urticaria, and swelling of the face, mouth or throat (Quincke’s edema).

Digestive system disorders: frequency unknown – cramps, nausea, vomiting.

In these cases, as well as in the event of the development of any adverse events not listed in the instructions, you must stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Interaction

The drug Stoptussin PHYTO should not be used simultaneously with drugs containing codeine and other antitussive drugs, as this makes it difficult to cough up liquefied sputum.
If you are using the above or other medications (including over-the-counter medications), consult your doctor before using Stoptussin PHYTO.

Overdose

To date, there have been no reports of cases of overdose when using the drug.
