Pharmacological properties
Stisamet® has an anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates skin regeneration and reduces the possibility of suppuration. The drug increases the synthesis of intracellular proteins and nucleic acids, activates the fibroblastic reaction in the dermis. Stisamet ® also has a photoprotective effect.
Pharmacokinetics
Stisamet® easily penetrates the skin due to its emulsion base. When applied to the skin, the maximum concentration of methyluracil in the blood is reached after 2 hours, with a half-life of 5.1 hours.
Indications
Inflammatory skin diseases (eczema, neurodermatitis, dermatitis), poorly healing wounds, burns (thermal, chemical, radiation in the reparative stage), erosions and ulcers of the skin (including after radiation therapy), trophic ulcers, bedsores, cracks in the skin of the anus and mammary glands.
It can be used for prophylactic purposes to prevent skin reactions during irradiation of neoplasms with low radiosensitivity, to reduce radioepithelitis and late adhesions of the vaginal walls (occlusions) – in the case of radiation therapy of genital neoplasms.
It is also used as a photoprotective agent for photodermatoses.

Composition
active substance: dioxomethyltetrahydropyrimidine (methyluracil) – 3.0 g;
excipients: liquid paraffin (vaseline oil) – 8.0 g, emulsion wax – 8.0 g, glycerol (glycerin) – 10.0 g, ethanol (ethyl alcohol) 95% – 10.0 g, purified water up to 100.0 g.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity, acute and chronic forms of leukemia and other malignant diseases of the hematopoietic organ system, excess granulation in the wound.
With caution
Use with caution for skin diseases accompanied by the formation of excessive tissue growths: pemphigus vegetans, pyoderma vegetans, verrucous lichen planus, verrucous epidermodysplasia, etc., excessive granulations in wounds and ulcers, in acute inflammatory skin diseases and during exacerbation of chronic ones. The drug should also be used with caution on large areas of skin in case of cholesterol metabolism disorders and severe liver diseases. For radioepithelitis and late radiation damage to the vagina, the ointment is used on loose tampons in the form of applications.

Interaction
Can be prescribed simultaneously with other dermatotropic agents, including glucocorticosteroids, antibacterial and antiseptic agents for external use.
