Sodium and chlorine ions are the most important inorganic components of extracellular fluid.
They maintain the appropriate osmotic pressure of plasma and extracellular fluid.
In case of dehydration, the isotonic solution replenishes fluid deficits in the body.
Hypertensive sodium chloride solution when administered by IV provides correction of the osmotic pressure of extracellular fluid and blood plasma.
Sodium chloride is also used in ophthalmology – when applied topically it has an anti-edema effect.
Indications
Dissolution and dilution of medicines.
Active ingredient
Composition
How to take, the dosage
Subcutaneously, intramuscularly, intravenously after dissolution or dilution of drugs. Preparation of drug solutions using sodium chloride is carried out in sterile conditions (opening ampoules, filling syringes and containers with drugs). The amount of sodium chloride for the purpose of preparing a solution of a particular drug is determined by the instructions for use of the latter or, as the case may be, by the doctor.
Interaction
Compatible with colloidal hemodynamic blood substitutes (mutual enhancement of effect). When mixing with other drugs it is necessary to visually control compatibility. For this purpose it is necessary to observe the resulting solution for changes in color and/or precipitation, appearance of crystals, insoluble complexes. It is also necessary to take into account the instructions for use of the drugs added.
.
Special Instructions
Before dissolving/diluting the drug in sodium chloride isotonic solution, carefully read the instructions for use of the drug.
To use only a clear solution, with no visible inclusions and if the package is not damaged.
The solution should be administered using sterile equipment, observing the rules of asepsis and antiseptics. As with all parenteral solutions, the compatibility of added substances with the solution must be determined prior to dissolution.
Drugs known to be incompatible must not be used with 0.9% sodium chloride solution. The compatibility of the added medication with 0.9% sodium chloride solution must be determined by the physician by checking for possible color changes and/or the appearance of precipitate, insoluble complexes or crystals. Prior to addition, it must be determined if the substance to be added is soluble and stable in water at the same pH as the 0.9% sodium chloride solution.
If a drug is added, the isotonicity of the resulting solution must be determined prior to administration. Before adding the drugs to the solution, they should be thoroughly mixed, observing the rules of asepsis. The prepared solution shall be administered immediately after preparation, do not store! Do not freeze!
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles, mechanisms
The effect on the ability to perform potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions (driving vehicles, operating moving mechanisms) is determined by the pharmacological effects and possible side effects of the main drug, for which sodium chloride is used as a solvent for the preparation of solution for injection.
Contraindications
Side effects

Pregnancy use
The possibility of using during pregnancy and breastfeeding is determined by the instructions for use of the drug, for the dilution of which 0.9% sodium chloride solution will be used.
The possibility of using during pregnancy and breastfeeding is determined by the instructions for use of the drug, for which the 0.9% sodium chloride solution will be used.
