Sodium chloride – detoxifying.
Pharmacodynamics
It has a detoxifying and rehydrating effect. Replenishes sodium deficiency in various pathological conditions. Sodium chloride 0.9% solution isotonic to human plasma and therefore is quickly eliminated from the vascular bed, only temporarily increasing the BOD (effectiveness in case of blood loss and shock is insufficient).
Pharmacokinetics
The sodium concentration is 142 mmol/L (plasma) and 145 mmol/L (interstitial fluid), the chloride concentration is 101 mmol/L (interstitial fluid). It is excreted by the kidneys.
Indications
Active ingredient
Composition
Active substances:
Sodium chloride 9 g;
Auxiliary substances:
water for injection – up to 1 liter
The solution for infusion.
How to take, the dosage
Intravenous drip, externally.
The solution is heated to 36-38 °C before administration. The dose is determined depending on the loss of body fluid, Na+ and Cl-, and on average is 1000 ml per day.
In case of high fluid loss and severe intoxication it is possible to administer up to 3000 ml per day. The infusion rate is 540 ml per hour; if necessary the infusion rate is increased.
In children with dehydration manifested by decreased blood pressure (without determining laboratory parameters) the dose is 20-30 ml/kg. Subsequently the dosing regimen is adjusted depending on the laboratory parameters.
In prolonged administration of large doses of isotonic sodium chloride solution the electrolyte content in the plasma and urine must be monitored.
Isotonic sodium chloride solution is used for washing wounds, eyes, nasal mucous membranes, moistening dressings.
Special Instructions
With caution use large amounts of sodium chloride in patients with impaired renal excretory function, with hypokalemia. Administration of large amounts of the solution may lead to acidosis, hyperhydration, increased excretion of potassium from the body.
Hypertensive solution is not administered p/u and i/m.
On long-term use it is necessary to monitor the concentration of electrolytes in the plasma and daily diuresis.
The temperature of the infusion solution should be 38 ° C.
Contraindications
With caution:
Side effects
Acidosis, hyperhydration, hypokalemia.
