Indications

Isotonic 0.9% sodium chloride solution is widely used for the dissolution of drugs.

It can be used in case of large losses of extracellular fluid or its insufficient intake (toxic dyspepsia, cholera, diarrhea, uncontrollable vomiting, extensive burns with severe exudation, etc.).

The use of the drug is recommended for use in cases of hypochloremia and hyponatremia with dehydration, intestinal obstruction, intoxication, washing wounds, eyes, nasal mucosa, for regional perfusion together with heparin, antineoplastic and other medicines.

Polymer ampoules 10 ml

1 ml of solution for infusion contains 9 mg of sodium chloride.

How to take, the dosage

It is administered intravenously.

The maximum daily therapeutic dose is 3000 ml, the volume of the administered solution depends on the level of fluid loss, sodium ions and chlorine. Other methods of administration are possible (subcutaneously, rectally).

The drug is used only in hospital.

Interaction

In case of blood loss and shock, transfusion of blood, plasma or plasma-substituting fluids is recommended concomitantly with the use of the drug.

Contraindications

Sodium chloride isotonic solution should not be administered in disorders of the water-sodium balance associated with hypernatriemia, in extracellular hyperhydration, intracellular dehydration, circulatory disorders, threatening brain and lung edema, treatment with massive doses of corticosteroids.

Large volumes of isotonic sodium chloride solution should be used with caution in patients with impaired renal excretory function and/or heart failure, in children and the elderly.

Side effects

It affects water-salt homeostasis, acid-base state.

It may aggravate the developing cerebral and pulmonary edema.

Overdose

The administration of large amounts of isotonic sodium chloride solution can lead to chloride acidosis and hyperhydration, as well as increased potassium excretion from the body.
