Sinuforte, lyophilizate 50 mg + and nozzle

Sinuforte is a drug of plant origin for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses (PNS) and the nasal cavity.

Pharmacodynamics

The drug is of plant origin for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of the paranasal sinuses (PNS) and the nasal cavity. The drug affects the sensitive trigeminal nerve receptors in the middle nasal passage and causes reflexive secretion in the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and PNS. Stimulated hypersecretion is accompanied by changes in rheological properties of the secretion and normalization of its viscosity. Reflex hypersecretion in combination with antiedematous action of the drug leads to evacuation of the secretion from sinuses into nasopharynx and provides physiological drainage of all sinuses simultaneously.

The drug promotes restoration of mucociliary transport in the nasal cavity and PNS by strengthening the presence of the liquid part of the secretion in the surface layer of mucus. Sinuforte increases microcirculation in the nasal mucosa and PNS. This is due to the fact that parasympathetic stimulation, which activates secretion, also causes vasodilation of the vessels supplying the glands.

The increased reflex secretion in the form of serous-mucous secretions is detectable in a few minutes and can last from 30 to 120 minutes, depending on individual body characteristics.

Pharmacokinetics

The action of the drug Sinuforte is due to the combined effects of the components of cyclamen, of which the most studied are the triterpene saponins. Kinetic studies are not possible since the complex of components cannot be traced by markers or bioassays. For the same reason it is not possible to detect the metabolites of the drug.

water for injection – 5 ml

How to take, the dosage

Intranasally, adults and children over 5 years of age.

Performance sequence for use

The nebulizer sprays 0.13 ml (2-3 drops) of the product with each push, which is about 1.3 mg of product (single dose).

The product prepared as described above is administered once daily by spraying once into each nasal passage.

The product is recommended daily, or every other day if needed.

The duration of one course of treatment is 12-16 days if the drug is used every other day or 6-8 days if it is used daily.

Interaction

Pre-administration as well as concomitant use of local anesthetics and/or local decongestants should be avoided due to the possible violation of the mechanism of action of the drug Sinuforte.

If necessary, the drug Sinuforte may be combined with antibacterial drugs.

The interaction with other drugs has not yet been studied.

Special Instructions

During postoperative rehabilitation after endoscopic interventions Sinuforte is used on the second day for cleaning (sanation) of the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity and reduction of mucosal edema.

When using Sinuforte it is necessary to avoid getting it into the eyes due to the irritating effect of the drug on the mucous membrane of the eye and due to possible development of acute conjunctivitis.

When administering the drug, it is recommended to hold your breath.

Direct spraying of the product should be done with the head in an upright position.

Consultation with an otolaryngologist is recommended prior to use.

Contraindications

Side effects

A mild to moderate burning sensation in the nasal cavity, salivation and/or lacrimation may occur in response to irritation of the trigeminal nerve receptors.

In some cases, redness of the face, a brief headache in the frontal area, or a pale pink nasal discharge due to capillary diapedesis may occur. The above short-term physiological reactions confirm the reflex mechanism of action of the drug and do not require discontinuation of treatment.

Allergic reactions (including skin rash, dyspnea, etc.) are possible. In these cases it is recommended to stop taking the drug and see a specialist.

Overdose

There are currently no reported cases of overdose of Sinuforte. Exceeding the single dose does not increase the therapeutic effect and may cause a strong burning sensation and pain in the nasopharynx.

In case of symptoms of overdose, symptomatic treatment should be carried out: nasal cavity washing, rinsing the throat with warm water and using antihistamines.

Pregnancy use

It is contraindicated in pregnancy. Breastfeeding should be stopped during treatment.

Contraindicated in children under 5 years of age (use in children under 5 years has not been studied).
