Silver drug (silver proteinate contains 7.5-8.5% silver). It has astringent, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect. It dissociates with formation of silver ions that bind with DNA of bacteria and prevent their reproduction on mucous membranes in conditions of local application.

The mechanism of action of silver proteinate is based on the fact that silver ions precipitate proteins and form a protective film on the damaged mucous membranes ensuring sensitization of nerve endings and narrowing of blood vessels (that results in edema reduction) causing inhibition of inflammatory reactions. Silver ions also inhibit the reproduction of various bacteria.

Active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms: B. cereus, C. albicans, E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, A. niger, S. Abony and others.

How to take, the dosage

Topically, as a 2% solution.

Prepare the solution immediately before use.

Store the prepared solution at room temperature. The solution can be used within 30 days after preparation.

To prepare 2% solution, 1 tablet of the drug (200 mg) is dissolved in 10 ml of the solvent (water for injection).

The way to prepare the drug solution before use:

Before using the drug, it is recommended to rinse and clean the nasal passages. The duration of treatment is 5-7 days.

If after 7 days of treatment, there is no improvement or if symptoms worsen or new symptoms develop, you should consult a doctor.

To use the drug only according to the indication, route of administration, and dosage listed in the instructions.

Interaction

Pharmacodynamic, pharmacokinetic interaction: not studied.

Pharmaceutical interaction: salts of zinc, copper, lead, silver, mercury, iron, aluminum form insoluble precipitates with the drug solution; the drug solution is inactivated by alkaloid salts and organic bases (epinephrine).

Special Instructions

Before use, apply a small amount of the product on the elbow bend to identify individual intolerance.

In case of symptoms of individual intolerance to the components of the product (irritation, burning, itching of the skin, mucous membranes) rinse with plenty of water for 15 minutes, if necessary, consult a doctor.

The simultaneous use of products containing alkaloid salts and organic bases (adrenaline) is not recommended.

Contraindications

Side effects

Mild mucosal irritation, burning, itching, allergic reactions (urticaria, atopic dermatitis, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic shock).

If you have any side effects mentioned in the instructions, or if they get worse, or if you notice any other side effects not mentioned in the instructions, tell your doctor.

Overdose

An overdose is unlikely with the recommended route of administration.

Symptoms: possible exacerbation of side effects. If accidentally swallowing large amounts of the drug may cause gastrointestinal irritation.

Treatment: in case of severe irritation, burning, itching mucous membranes should be rinsed with plenty of water for 15 minutes. If symptoms persist, seek medical attention.

The treatment is symptomatic.
