Pharmacodynamics

Hydrotalcite has a layered mesh structure with low aluminum and magnesium content. The release of aluminum and magnesium ions occurs gradually depending on the pH of the gastric juice.

The drug ensures fast and prolonged neutralization of hydrochloric acid while maintaining pH close to normal. It has a protective effect on the gastric mucosa. It reduces the proteolytic activity of pepsin and binds bile acids.

Pharmacokinetics

The release of magnesium and aluminum ions occurs gradually in the stomach, depending on the value of pH. Absorption of the drug occurs in the small intestine.

After oral administration the content of magnesium and aluminum ions in the blood plasma is temporarily increased, but there is no penetration into the nervous and bone tissues (with normal renal function). The absorbed portion is excreted by the kidneys.

How to take, the dosage

To the mouth, chew thoroughly.

Adults and children over 12 years of age: 1 to 2 tablets 1 to 2 times a day 1 hour after meals and before going to bed.

Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 tablet 2 times a day.

The treatment should be continued for 4 weeks.

Interaction

Rutacid® reduces absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, ofloxacin), coumarins, iron preparations.

Special Instructions

The interval between the use of the drug and other medicinal products should be at least 1-2 hours.

The use of the drug Rutacid® simultaneously with acid-containing drinks (juice, wine) is not recommended.

The drug Rutacid® does not contain sucrose, so it can be used by patients with diabetes.

Polyols (mannitol) may cause diarrhea.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to hydrotalcite; children (under 6 years).

With caution: chronic renal failure, hypophosphatemia.

Side effects

When taking the drug, side effects are rare. Allergic reactions, diarrhea, belching are possible.
