Pharmacokinetic properties

It is well absorbed in the small intestine. Maximum plasma concentration is reached 1 to 3 hours after drug administration. About 60% of the drug and its metabolites are excreted with urine, 5% – in faeces, about 2% – in lungs. Can penetrate through the placental barrier; in the milk of lactating women.

Indications

Used in complex therapy of inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (sinusitis, acute and chronic bronchitis).

Special instructions

Before taking Respero Myrtol, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.

If after using the drug the symptoms persist or worsen, shortness of breath, fever, purulent or bloody sputum appear, you should immediately consult a doctor.

For bronchial asthma, whooping cough or other respiratory diseases that are associated with severe hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract, Respero Myrtol is used only after consultation with a doctor.

Respero Myrtol contains sorbitol. If you suffer from a rare hereditary fructose intolerance, you should not use Respero Myrtol.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and machinery:

During the period of treatment with the drug, care must be taken when driving vehicles and engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased concentration and speed of psychomotor reactions, since the use of the drug can in rare cases cause dizziness.

Composition

1 capsule of the drug contains:

Active ingredient: Myrtol standardized 120 mg

Excipients: Medium chain triglycerides

Composition of the capsule shell: Gelatin, glycerol, sorbitol, hydrochloric acid solution 13%

Enteric capsule shell: hypromellose acetate succinate, triethyl citrate, sodium lauryl sulfate, talc, dextrin, ammonium glycyrrhizinate/

Pregnancy

Due to the lack of special studies during pregnancy (II-III trimester), the drug should be used with caution as prescribed by a doctor, provided that the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. The use of the drug during breastfeeding is contraindicated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, gallstone disease, urolithiasis, bronchial asthma, 1st trimester of pregnancy, breastfeeding period, children under 6 years of age, liver disease; hereditary fructose intolerance (since the drug contains sorbitol).

Gastrointestinal disorders

Common: stomach pain; sometimes: gastritis, gastroenteritis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, dry mouth, change in taste.

Immune system disorders, skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders

Sometimes: allergic reactions (shortness of breath, facial swelling, rash, urticaria, itching, bronchospasm); unknown: severe anaphylactic reactions.

Nervous system disorders

Sometimes: headache, dizziness.

Renal and urinary tract disorders

Very rare: increased mobility of existing kidney stones.

Liver and biliary tract disorders:

Very rare: increased mobility of existing gallstones.

Interaction

Respero Myrtol should not be used concomitantly with drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. If you are using the above or other medications (including over-the-counter medications), consult your doctor before using Respero Myrtol.

Overdose

If you accidentally overdose on eucalyptus oil, you may experience stomach symptoms (eg, nausea, vomiting) and shortness of breath. In severe cases, overdose can lead to convulsions, coma or breathing problems. In rare cases, after severe intoxication, disturbances in the functioning of the cardiovascular system are possible. Treatment: The need for therapeutic intervention depends on the amount of eucalyptus oil ingested and the severity of clinical symptoms. If the amount ingested is small and the patient is asymptomatic or suffers only mild symptoms such as vomiting or mild drowsiness, observing the patient for a few hours is usually sufficient.

After ingestion of large amounts of eucalyptus oil or in case of severe clinical symptoms, gastric lavage after endotracheal intubation and instillation of activated charcoal are recommended.

Shelf life

3 years. Do not use the drug after the expiration date.
