Pharmacokinetic properties
It is well absorbed in the small intestine. Maximum plasma concentration is reached 1 to 3 hours after drug administration. About 60% of the drug and its metabolites are excreted with urine, 5% – in faeces, about 2% – in lungs. Can penetrate through the placental barrier; in the milk of lactating women.

How to take, the dosage
The drug is taken orally, in adults and children over 6 years old, 30 minutes before a meal with plenty of water at room temperature.
In children from 6 to 12 years of age in acute inflammation 1 capsule 3 – 4 times a day, in chronic inflammation – 1 capsule 2 – 3 times a day.
Children from 12 to 18 years of age in acute inflammation are prescribed 1 capsule 4 – 5 times a day, in chronic inflammation – 1 capsule 2 – 3 times a day.
In adults in acute inflammation it is prescribed 2 capsules 3 – 5 times a day (6 – 10 capsules per day), in chronic – 2 capsules 2 – 4 times a day (4 – 8 capsules per day). The duration of treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and is determined by the doctor. Dosage in chronic inflammation is also recommended for long-term treatment. If after the treatment no improvement occurs within 10 days or the symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, you should consult a doctor. Use the drug only according to the indications, the route of administration, and the dosage listed in the instructions.
Interaction
The drug Respero Myrtol should not be used simultaneously with drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. If you use the above or other medicines (including over-the-counter ones), consult your doctor before using Respero Myrtol.
Special Instructions

If symptoms persist or worsen after using the drug, shortness of breath, fever, purulent or bloody sputum, you should see a doctor immediately.
In bronchial asthma, whooping cough or other respiratory conditions that are associated with severe airway hypersensitivity, Respero Myrtol is used only after consulting a doctor.
Respero Myrtol contains sorbitol. If you suffer from a rare hereditary fructose intolerance, you should not use Respero Myrtol.
Impact on the ability to drive vehicles, machinery:
During treatment with the drug, caution should be exercised when driving vehicles and engaging in potentially hazardous activities requiring increased concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions, since the use of the drug may in rare cases cause dizziness.

Oval soft translucent gelatin capsules. The contents of the capsules are oily clear colorless liquid with a characteristic odor.

Side effects
Side effects are listed below in descending order of frequency:
Gastrointestinal disorders
Often: Gastric pain; sometimes: gastritis, gastroenteritis, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, dry mouth, change in taste.
Immune system disorders, skin and subcutaneous tissue lesions
Sometimes: allergic reactions (shortness of breath, facial swelling, rash, urticaria, itching, bronchospasm); unknown: severe anaphylactic reactions.
Nervous system disorders
Sometimes: headache, dizziness.
Renal and urinary tract disorders
Very rare: increased mobility of existing kidney stones.
Liver and biliary tract disorders:
very rarely: increased mobility of existing gallstones in the gallbladder.

Overdose
In an accidental overdose of eucalyptus oil, stomach symptoms (e.g., nausea, vomiting) and shortness of breath may occur. In severe cases, an overdose may lead to convulsions, coma, or respiratory distress. In rare cases after severe intoxication there may be disorders of the cardiovascular system. Treatment: The need for therapeutic intervention depends on the amount of eucalyptus oil ingested and the severity of the clinical symptoms. If the amount ingested is small and the patient has no symptoms or suffers only mild symptoms such as vomiting or mild drowsiness, it is usually sufficient to observe the patient for a few hours.
After ingestion of large amounts of eucalyptus oil or in cases of severe clinical symptoms, gastric lavage after endotracheal intubation and instillation of activated charcoal is recommended.
Pregnancy use
Due to the lack of special studies in pregnancy (II-III trimester), the drug should be used with caution by prescription, provided that the estimated benefits to the mother exceed the potential risk to the fetus. The use of the drug during breastfeeding is contraindicated.
