Pharmaceutical group: antacid.
Pharmacidal action:
Renny is a topical antacid drug. It contains calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, which provide fast and prolonged neutralization of excessive hydrochloric acid of gastric juice, thus providing a protective effect on the gastric mucosa.
Therapeutic effect is achieved within 3-5 minutes due to the good solubility of the tablets and the high content of calcium.
Pharmacokinetics:
Intake
As a result of interaction of Renny® with gastric juice, soluble calcium and magnesium salts are formed in the stomach. The degree of absorption of calcium and magnesium from these compounds depends on the dose of the drug. Maximum absorption is 10% of calcium and 15-20% of magnesium.
Elimination
A small amount of absorbed calcium and magnesium is excreted by the kidneys. In the intestine, insoluble compounds are formed from soluble salts and excreted in the feces.
Pharmacokinetics in special clinical cases
In impaired renal function, plasma calcium and magnesium concentrations may increase.
Indications
Symptoms related to hyperacidity of gastric juice and reflux esophagitis (including those caused by wrong diet, taking medications, abuse of alcohol, coffee, nicotine):
Active ingredient
Composition
1 tablet contains:
Active substances:
Calcium carbonate 680 mg;
Magnesium carbonate basic 80 mg;
Associates:
sucrose;
Pregelatinized corn starch;

How to take, the dosage
To the mouth, chew or hold in the mouth until completely absorbed.
Adults and children over 12 years of age (unless otherwise recommended by the doctor) when symptoms appear – 1-2 tablets. If necessary, the drug may be repeated after 2 hours.
The maximum daily dose is 11 tablets.
Interaction
Changes in gastric acidity during the use of antacids may lead to decreased rate and degree of absorption of other drugs when taken simultaneously, so the drugs should be taken 1-2 hours before or after taking antacid drugs.
Tetracycline antibiotics, fluoroquinolones, cardiac glycosides, levothyroxine, iron preparations, fluorides, phosphates – when used simultaneously, antacids reduce absorption of these drugs.
Thiazide diuretics – when concomitant use with antacids, serum calcium concentration should be monitored regularly.
The anticholinergic drugs increase and prolong the effect by delaying gastric emptying.
Special Instructions
In patients with impaired renal function, serum magnesium, phosphorus and calcium concentrations should be monitored regularly.
Patients with impaired renal function are not recommended to take the drug at high doses for a long time.
The use of Renny® in high doses may increase the risk of formation of kidney stones.
If use of the drug is ineffective, a physician should be consulted.
Contraindications
Side effects
The drug is well tolerated if the recommended doses are followed, however, in very rare cases, allergic reactions – rash, Quincke’s edema, anaphylactic reactions – are possible.
Overdose
Symptoms: Long-term use of the drug in high doses in patients with impaired renal function may cause hypermagnesemia, hypercalcemia, and alkalosis, which are manifested by nausea, vomiting, and muscle weakness.
Treatment: The drug should be discontinued and a physician should be seen immediately.
Pregnancy use
The drug is not harmful to the fetus or baby when used in the recommended doses.
