Probiotics play an important role in maintaining the normal balance of the intestinal microflora. They cover the intestinal mucosa, protecting it from germs coming from outside. According to the WHO definition, a probiotic is a living microorganism, which, when used in a certain dose, has a beneficial effect on health.
