Reafferon-ES-Lipint is the world’s only oral interferon-alpha-2. Interferon in its pure form cannot be taken orally, as it is easily broken down by enzymes in the stomach. Reafferon-ES-Lipint is enclosed in liposomes, which protect it from degradation in the body.

The interferon enclosed in the liposome almost completely passes through the gastrointestinal tract, enters the liver, where it is absorbed into the blood, and slowly begins to be released gradually. When taking Lipint the content of the body’s own interferon is 100% higher than when injecting Reafferon EC. Maximum suitable for emergency prevention of colds and flu. In the composition of Reafferon-ES Lipint contains antioxidants – vitamins E and C. Reapheron is used for viral and tumor diseases.

The drug is effective in viral hepatitis. It is administered to adults in complex therapy of acute viral hepatitis B. The drug is most effective at the beginning of jaundice period until the 5th day of the disease. With developed hepatic coma and cholestatic course of hepatitis, the drug is of little effectiveness.

The drug is used in viral conjunctivitis, keratoconjunctivitis, keratitis, uveitis as well as in hairy cell leukemia, chronic myeloleukemia, kidney cancer. There is also data on the use of reiferon in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.

Composition

1 vial contains 50,000 IU of interferon alfa-2a encapsulated in liposomes;

vitamins E 10 mg and vitamin C 1.5 mg/

How to take, the dosage

REAPHERON-ES-LIPINT is taken orally, 30 min before meals. Immediately before use, 1-2 ml of distilled or cooled boiled water is added to the contents of the bottle. When shaking for 1-5 minutes a homogeneous white suspension should be formed.

Acute hepatitis B: to adults and school-age children – 1 mln IU 2 times per day, to children 3-7 years old – 0.5 mln IU 1 time per day for 10 days, if necessary (after blood biochemical tests) and more, until complete recovery.

Chronic hepatitis B (in active and non-active replicative forms, associated with glomerulonephritis): school-age children and adults – 1 mln IU, children 3-7 years old – 0.5 mln IU 2 times daily for 10 days and then during 1 month 1 time per day at night.

Special Instructions

Like all interferons, the drug may cause appearance of antibodies to interferon in some individuals during long-term use, which leads to decrease of therapeutic effect.

The use of the drug in case of viral hepatitis B at a later period of time is less effective. It is not effective in developing hepatic coma and cholestatic course of the disease. In patients with erythrodermic stage of mycosis with fever over 39 degrees C and in case of aggravation of the process the administration of Referon-EC should be stopped.

In persons with high pyrogenic reaction (39 degrees C and above) to administration of Referon-ES it is recommended to use simultaneously indomethacin. If the solution for local use is stored, it is necessary, observing the rules of aseptics and antiseptics, to transfer the contents of the ampoule into a sterile bottle and store the solution in a refrigerator at 4-10 degrees C for not more than 12 hours. In case of leukocytopenia and thrombocytopenia it is necessary to perform blood tests 2-3 times a week.

Contraindications

Allergic diseases, pregnancy (insufficient number of observations) .

In patients with cardiovascular diseases, hemodynamic control (periodic ECG registration) is necessary.

Individual intolerance to interferons.

Side effects

When using reaferon, chills, general malaise, increased body temperature, skin allergic reactions (rash, itching), leukocytopenia and thrombocytopenia are possible.

Injections should be discontinued in case of acute side effects.
