Puregon has a follicle-stimulating effect.

Puregon compensates FSH deficiency. It regulates normal growth and maturation of follicles, synthesis of sex steroid hormones.

Indications

Women’s infertility with anovulation (including polycystic ovarian syndrome refractory to clomiphene citrate); conducting assisted reproductive programs, including in vitro fertilization (for induction of superovulation).

How to take, the dosage

Intramuscularly, subcutaneously (slowly).

Anovulation – beginning with daily administration of 50-75 IU for 7 days, with no ovarian response the dose is gradually increased (optimal daily increase in plasma estradiol concentration by 40-100%); when the dominant follicle reaches a diameter of 18 mm or estradiol levels of 300-900 pg/ml, Puregon is discontinued and human chorionic gonadotropin is administered.

The induction of ovarian superovulation during in vitro fertilization for the first 4 days is 100-200 IU, then the dose is adjusted individually based on ovarian response; usually 75-375 IU per day for 1-2 weeks is sufficient; In the presence of 3 follicles with a diameter of 16-20 mm and a plasma concentration of estradiol of 300-400 pg/ml/follicle, the terminal phase of follicle maturation is stimulated with human chorionic gonadotropin; 34-35 h later the oocytes are aspirated.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity, ovarian, breast, uterine, pituitary or hypothalamic tumors, primary ovarian insufficiency, ovarian cysts or ovarian enlargement not related to polycystic ovary syndrome, genital anatomy disorder or uterine fibroma incompatible with pregnancy.

Side effects

Ovarian hyperstimulation (abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, enlarged ovaries and their cysts, rarely – rupture of ovarian cysts, ascites, hydrothorax, increased body weight); in the injection site – swelling, pain, redness, itching.

After induction of ovulation the risk of multiple pregnancy increases, and with in vitro fertilization – ectopic pregnancy.

Pregnancy use

Contraindicated in pregnancy.

Lactating women should stop breastfeeding.
