Prednisolone, ointment 0.5% 10 g

Prednisolone ointment has a pronounced local anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-exudative effect. The anti-inflammatory effect of prednisolone in the skin and other tissues is achieved mainly with the participation of cytosolic glucocorticosteroid receptors.
The hormone-receptor complex, penetrating the nucleus of target skin cells (keratinocytes, fibroblasts, lymphocytes), increases the expression of genes encoding lipocortin synthesis, which inhibit phospholipase A2 and decrease the synthesis of products of arachidonic acid metabolism – cyclic endoperoxides, prostaglandins and thromboxane.
The antiproliferative effect of prednisolone is associated with inhibition of nucleic acid synthesis (primarily DNA) in cells of the basal layer of the epidermis and dermal fibroblasts. Antiallergic effect of the drug is caused by a decrease in the number of basophils, direct inhibition of the synthesis and secretion of biologically active substances.
