Polydex with phenylephrine, spray 15 ml

The combined preparation for topical application in otorhinolaryngology.

The therapeutic effect of Polydexa with phenylephrine is due to the anti-inflammatory effect of dexamethasone on the nasal mucosa, vasoconstrictor effect of phenylephrine and antibacterial action of antibiotics neomycin and polymyxin B.

When the above antibiotics are combined they broaden the spectrum of antibacterial action against the majority of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms causing infectious and inflammatory diseases of the nasal cavity and accessory sinuses.

15 ml of the spray contains:

Active ingredients:

neomycin sulfate 1 g, corresponding to 650,000 ME;

polymyxin B sulfate 1,000,000 ME;

dexamethasone sodium methasulfobenzoate 0.025 g;

phenylephrine hydrochloride 0.250 g;

How to take, the dosage

Adults: one injection in each nostril 3-5 times a day.

Children aged 2.5 to 15 years: one injection in each nostril 3 times a day.

The duration of treatment is 5-10 days.

Interaction

Drug interaction is due to the content of phenylephrine.

The simultaneous use of guanethidine and drugs of this group increases the hypertensive effect of phenylephrine and, due to reduction of sympathetic tone by guanethidine, prolonged mydriasis is possible.

If this combination cannot be avoided, physician monitoring is necessary.

Special Instructions

The drug is not prescribed to patients with renal insufficiency.

The drug is not used for sinus irrigation.

The drug is used with caution in patients with arterial hypertension, CHD, hyperthyroidism.

Please note that the drug contains compounds that can give positive results in doping control in athletes.

Contraindications

Side effects

Allergic reactions: rare – skin manifestations.

Overdose

Due to the low degree of absorption into the systemic bloodstream, overdose is unlikely.

Pregnancy use

Polydex with phenylephrine is contraindicated in pregnancy, lactation and children under 2 years of age.
